Does anyone know of any real life, honest to God NON SCAM work at home with your computer jobs available on the net? I’m talking data entry, billing- whatever. My sister is looking for some spare time/computer stuff to do, and I don’t know how to weed through the scams and find legit work for pay stuff to do.
She is limited to things like data entry, as she doesn’t program or anything. Otherwise, I’d tell her to subcontract as a programmer.
Any RELIABLE advice is welcome. I’m specifically looking for programs that you or someone you know well has done and actually received pay for.
Thanks!
Zette
My job previous to this one was selling computers (not in a mall or anything like that).
A lot of people bought computers so they could do Medical/Legal Transcriptions. Call every lawyer and doctor in the phone book shrug what could it hurt?

My wife’s done medical transcripting. Pays pretty well for part time–I think she was making $15/hr–but deciphering what the docs are saying is real nasty.
I do CAD, which is great for home work but you need some experience in it first.
Warn her twice then warn her again about scams she may see advertised in email, on the sides of cars, or on roadside signs.
Would she write my dissertation for me? Tell her to make me an offer.
I work at home doing medical transcription. All you really need to do is take a medical terminology course and a typing course (which are almost always available through your local community college). Deciphering foreign doctors is always a treat, but it really isn’t that hard of a job to learn how to do. I’ve been doing this for 10+ years now and I enjoy it because every day you learn something new. Calling every doctor in the phone book is actually not the way to go because the great majority of physicians use an outside service. Try looking up “medical transcription” or “legal transcription” in the phone book or on the Internet.
Sounds like the transcription services can be legitimate. But be warned that the medical billing/invoicing ‘work at home’ is almost universally a scam. Very few doctors outsource their billing.
Also, I would say to avoid any work at home job that requires a setup fee; and avoid any job where most of your income would come from signing others up to do the job.
Clark Howard (who has a radio consumer show is a good source of information on these things.
