Everybody scatter! Kally is nearing full chocolate rampage!

Seriously, did you check Fred Meyer? You are down in Orey-gone, and have those. The FM near where I live is where I saw it…

Now we’re back to that whole ‘beer and cockies’ fiasco…

I saw your sig. What’s your point?

<snerk> VunderBob said beer and cockies! <snerk>

So, Shibb what yer tellin’ me is that French bread is fat and stupid? If it takes a size 48 wrapper and gets whooshed when I make a really good pun it’s French bread? This is gettin’ way more complicated than bread needs to be.

I’m hungry. I ate just a little bit for lunch cause I’m saving up for pancakes and sausages tonight. I paid for tickets for ACBG and me and I intend to get my money’s worth. MMMMMMMMM… pancakes and sausages.

You need to take a trip up north here to get some REAL Italian food!

French bread (well, French baguettes) is usually longer, skinnier and crustier… yeah, yeah, I said crusty… it’s a technical term! Nothing dirty implied! :stuck_out_tongue: It goes really well with some nice soft cheese like brie. Italian is a good chewy, light bread that can be a little crusty on the outside. It’s perfect dipped in some good olive oil. Mmmmm, bread. Now I’m hungry again!

And obviously YMMV. Bread’s very subjective. Don’t come after me if you disagree!

If it’s all the same then, I’ll just keep to my heathen bread eatin’ ways. Rippin’ a hunk off the loaf and butterin’ or dippin’ it whatever’s handy for dippin’ and gobblin’ it down. I like rippin’ off big hunks of bread. I don’t care what nationality it is. So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

Bread is good for you. Death to Atkins Diet!

Good thing I never went on the Atkins diet, then.

While I resisted the chocolate eggs, I did buy a three pound bag of peanut m&ms. They are dangerous and bad. Costco also had vanilla smarties. Weird. And peanut butter Coffee Crisp. I should stop eating m&ms. They’re theoretically for Mr. Lissar

For the benefit of our Americans, Canadian smarties are similar to chocolate m&ms. I have been told that smarties in the U.S. are more like our rockets- small sweet/sour sugar tablets. Weird.

Bread of almost any kind is a great goodness. Wonderbread is not. It is only good for making grilled cheese.

I think I read somewhere that French bread has some sort of shortening or oil in the dough, thereby making it richer, and Italian bread does not. But I don’t remember where I got that, so it may not be true.

I was supposed to make Chicken Parmesan this weekend, but didn’t get to the grocery store. I may have to go tonight - we are out of everything, including bread of any sort, toilet paper and, most importantly, cat food (at least, that’s what the cat tells me). I really hate shopping after work, but can’t afford to/don’t want to eat out every night. It’s not healthy, anyway.

Oh, and I never believed in the Tooth Fairy. My mom didn’t bother with Tooth Fairies or Santa or anything like that. So, no money under the pillow for me. Daddy would only have stolen it for drugs or beer anyway.

Ok, someone (me) is cranky and should not be posting. I will check in with y’all tomorrow when I can play nice.

Is that a Kids in the Hall skit, Wintermule

All right now, son, I want you to get a good night’s rest. And remember, I could murder you while you sleep. It’s easy, son, all you have to do is be quiet and willing to do it. And son, I am willing to do it. And, I’ve got quiet shoes. Good night, son. Sleep well.

Shibb - Is that in Tampa? We have a Mazzaro’s in St. Pete that is da bomb. Their sandwiches are excellent because they put them on their own homemade bread.

Lissla - I am so glad you did not go on and on about the Cadbury Creme Eggs, those things give me the willies. They not only look disgusting they taste like sugared sugar. Now the caramel or truffle Cadbury eggs are a whole 'nother story.

Is anyone else being slowly driven insane by the new M&M’s commercials with the chick who plays Karen on Will and Grace? I cannot get that damn jingle out of my head! And why doesn’t she sing about the brown ones?

Thanks for the Pancake Tuesday link swampy. I feel much less ignorant now.

Pancakes and sausages would have been perfect for dinner. Instead, I was stuck at work longer than planned and wound up having a Wendy’s extra-wonderful grilled chicken sandwich (don’t remember the actual name, but they claim it’s new). The sandwich was NOT extra-wonderful. More like extra-mediocre. The sauce tastes like thousand island dressing made with bad barbecue sauce. Not appealing.

So maybe I’ll have pancakes without sausage tomorrow and C&D on Thursday.

I’ve never made C&D - so thanks to everyone for all the info - but bought Reames (the brand LifeOnWry was trying to remember earlier) frozen noodles over the weekend for the express purpose of making C&D. Do y’all serve them with mashed potatoes or is that just an Ohio thing? (I’m from Michigan originally, so I’m not an expert on any of this…)

GT

Yes, REAMES! Thank you very much.

C&D WITH mashed potatoes?? Even I don’t need that much starch in my diet, and I’m a carboholic (yes, I am addicted to carbohol.)

FINE! Now I’ve even checked a Freddy’s, and still no Easter candy. I can’t even find them on the Hershey’s website! (Okay, so mail ordering them, when they will be available in about a week, is a little over the top, but we are talking about a darned fine candy!) This is a plot to disrupt my world and prevent me from concentrating on anything else!

I’ve never had chicken and dumplings.

Oh, sure, be all show-offy by getting the name just right. And it is “da bomb”. That’s some damned fine bread. Have you had the gelato?

I thought it was weird too, when I first had it, but it’s actually kind of good that way. Sort of a multi-dimensional approach to comfort food.

GT

Leftover scalloped potatoes time. I can even fry them in butter, for extra fatteningness.

Leaving work at 10pm and having to be there again by 9 am is depressing. Time for extra scalloped potatoes. And maybe some leftover pancakes.

Sorry, I didn’t phrase that well. I wasn’t sure if there was actually a place with a similar name in Tampa or if you meant Mazzaro’s in St. Pete.

Haven’t tried the gelato yet. I try not to visit the dessert area too often because I don’t want to go totally hog wild and get a little of everything and gain 100 pounds.

Many pancakes and sausages were eaten last night. I think the other folks there had some too.

Now I’m supposed to be all penitent and stuff. I’m just not real good at it. I’ll go get my forehead smeared with ashes at noon. At least I’ll look all penitient. Also it’s fun to have people come up to me and say I got something on my forehead. Or maybe they just think I don’t bathe. Either way if fun.
-swampbear (I used my new ciitrus scented shower gel this morning. I smell like grapefruit)

We had pizza last night, with sausage, last night for dinner. Pizza is flat as a pancake. Does that count?

On the chicken and dumplings front, I don’t think I’ve ever had homemade chicken and dumplings. Just not something my family made. I’ll have to try to make that before it gets too hot here.

Isn’t that the whole appeal of Cadbury Creme Eggs? “Sugared sugar”? Like Peeps, only they don’t puff up in the microwave (that’ll be a thread soon because it’s a tradition) and they get covered in chocolate.
