Home is . . .

Home is where the heart is.

Where I hang my hat is home.

Where I hang my head is home.

Home is where, when you have to go there, they have to let you in.

[What are some others?]

I heard this last night: Home is where you keep your stuff.

Home
Hard to know what it is if you’ve never had one
Home
I can’t say where it is but I know I’m going
Home
That’s where the hurt is

You can never go home again.

Home is where one starts from

Home is a place you grow up wanting to leave, and grow old wanting to get back to.

Where thou art - that - is Home.

Home is made for comin’ from
For dreams of goin’ to
Which with any luck will never come true

-From “Born Under a Wanderin’ Star”

I wish I was homeward bound,
Home, where my thoughts escaping,
Home, where my music’s playing,
Home, where my love lies waiting silently for me.

-From Paul Simon’s Homeward Bound-

That’s where the dog lives.

Home can be the Pennsylvania Turnpike,
Or Indiana’s early morning dew,
High up in the hills of California,
Home is just another word for you . . .

I wish I’d never come back home
It don’t feel right since I’ve been grown
I can’t find any of my old friends hangin’ ‘round
Won’t nothin’ bring you down like your hometown

Home is where the heart is
Ain’t that what they always say
My heart lies in broken pieces
Scattered along the way

Hometow Blues
Steve Earle
Train a comin’

the house is where you live right now. home is where you want to end up in life.

Home, home again.
I like to be here when I can.
When I come home cold and tired
It’s good to warm my bones beside the fire.

To market, to market, to buy a fat pig,
Home again, home again, dancing a jig;
To market, to market, to buy a fat hog;
Home again, home again, jiggety-jog;
To market, to market, to buy a plum bun,
Home again, home again, market is done.

For me, home is wherever I’m not. When I’m here, in Toronto, I’ll say ‘I’m going home for the holidays’ and mean ‘back to British Columbia, where I was raised and my family lives’. When I’m there, I’ll say, ‘I’m going home on Tuesday’ and mean ‘On Tuesday, I’m returning to Toronto, where I live.’

Home is the nicest place I go.
