Home Remedies for Peptic Ulcers?

Jus wondering what do the stressful folk do? To help them escape the stomach blues? I think I have one… Soda seems to especially burn when first entering the stomach. Also, the empty stomach is kinda sour. Tums provides minimal relief, and although seemingly harmless, I’ve read over-usage can have other effects, such as on blood pH.

Anyhoo… Are there any home remedies which can help relieve or cure?
What’s your experience(s)?

If you actually have ulcer disease, I’d strongly recommend you get treated by a competent physician, and not just cover up symptoms with home remedies and over-the-counter acid blockers.

People die regularly from perforated gastric and duodenal ulcers, either from hemorrhaging, or from the resultant peritonitis. And an active ulcer usually needs at least two types of antibiotic treatment along with strong acid blockers to eradicate the bacteria associated with most ulcers (h. pylori) and heal the lesion.

OK, what about home diagnosis, so I know I’m not simply overreacting?

Man, I have no remedies, but I had to chime in to say I feel your pain. I just found out I have one.

I just had the H. pylori test myself - am waiting on the results. If you think you have one, you should definitely see a doctor! (Sorry if I sound like your mom now.)

Echoing the “see a doctor” comments, here. My husband had one in his mid-to-late-20s; he was taking OTC meds for his symptoms and generally not eating well on top of it, which certainly didn’t help matters. One morning he woke up cold, his temperature a few degrees below normal, and with black tarry stools. A trip to the ER later, and he was diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer, the doctor scolding him about things like colostomy bags (IIRC) and other horror stories if he’d let it get worse.
