And how is AIDS relevant? Do you think that allowing gay marriage, thus encouraging monogamy, will increase the incidence of AIDS? I think that this society’s marginizalition of gays, rather than their “immorality”, is the largest cause of the AIDS epidemic among gays.

The overwhelming number of AIDS cases in the world (not just the United States, which is, if you don’t know, not the only country in the world) are among heterosexuals, and are in underdeveloped countries. Was the AIDS epidemic introduced to the United States through the gay community? Probably - it is where it was first identified, and certainly the media played it as if it were the only instance of the disease. However, it didn’t stay there long. In fact, currently the number of AIDS patients in the gay community is going down while cases among heterosexuals are going up. I would be happy to provide the latest statistical data, something you seem unable to do.
And the name of the movie was, “And the Band Played On,” originally a stage play in the late 80’s/early 90’s.

The movie is called “And The Band Played On,” and it’s based on the non-fiction book of the same name. I certainly wouldn’t expect it to be anti-gay, as it was written by a gay man (who later died of AIDS), Randy Shilts. Pretty good movie, excellent book.
You clearly didn’t read Phouka’s post very carefully. AIDS spread very rapidly in the US and Europe via (men’s) homosexual sex. It could just have easily been spread by heterosexual sex - it’s absolutely a coincidence that it wasn’t. As Phouka said, AIDS is spread almost completely by heterosexual sex in Africa and Asia, and also Latin America. The fastest growing population of new HIV infections in the US is among African American women (I didn’t say that very well, but I think my point got across). Does that sound like it’s the fault of homosexuality? In fact, the HIV/AIDS rate among gays in the US has fallen dramatically.
Orion, you should be better informed before you start making claims that have no validity. It is getting more and more difficult to take you seriously, since you clearly are extremely ignorant about these matters.
BTW, what is your first language? I’m willing to give you slack for your poor English because it is clear that it’s not your mother tongue.

Now, Orion, just for the record, moderators here are members who have entered into a relationship with the board management to monitor posts for violations of the Terms of Service. They are not silent observers, but active members. The two moderators on this particular board use a [MODERATOR HAT ON] line to break out things they are doing “officially” from their responses as members with opinions. They are not permitted to use different names when posting as members, and they are not able to turn off the “Moderator” tag. So they make clear in their posts when they’re speaking as everyday people with opinions and when they’re taking authoritative action as moderators.
Beyond that, you’ve been challenged to make your points with evidence. You’ve chosen to throw before us the name of a disease/syndrome with some historical connection with behavior associated with the abstract noun which you question whether it is/should be a crime. If you have a point to make, define it. If “AIDS” proves a point here, it would appear that being African, Haitian, an intravenous drug user (whether legally, as in diabetes, or not), or a hemophiliac are also putative crimes.
In addition, there are conventions to the use of the English language in written form. They are not there because some moron decided to make rules and enforce them on the rest of us, but because they make reading easier for the people with whom you are supposedly trying to communicate. Nobody is out to put you down for your personal style; we’re just interested in finding out what points you are trying to make and arguing them with you (either on your side or against it). For that reason, clear posts with normal sentences, spelling, capitalization, and all that other boring junior high English stuff are standard. If you happen not to know how to spell a word, simply tag it “psychophant (sp?)” and we’ll puzzle out that you meant “sycophant” and were not sure of the spelling. And nobody will be offended.

Well, since you’ve only been around for 13 posts, you deserve some leniency. David is a moderator, yes, but he’s also one of the most prolific posters on this board. Very often, he’ll use his “hat” tags to show whether he’s posting as a moderator or just a run-of-the-mill poster. And, not to be brash, but what you think of the moderators’ performance around here is equal to diddly divided by squat.
I don’t think we’d get out of the blast zone in time. I say hit your knees, say your prayers, and kiss your ass goodbye…

E-Europe had and have atheism as religion (except Poland). This was something the governments in these countries decided when they became communist-states in the 40’s-50’s. Even in Poland christianity had trouble with the government.
AIDS was just one side of homosexual behavior. It’s much more of a moral and a social question to me than consequences like Aids. I don’t hate them, but when they want to marry (domestic partners), and adopt I must say what is right, Right!
The gay liberation gave us aids, gay marriage, and now they can adopt children (In New York and maybe The Netherlands)
I see this lifestyle as a perverted version of what’s normal and I can’t possible give my blessing to this lifestyle.

OK, pedophilia is not a decent analogy to homosexuality or homosexual acts because pedophilia involves having sex with someone who can’t really give consent or even, necessarily, know the consequences of their actions. There may also be coercive method involved. Pedophilia is more akin to rape because of the above reasons. To take from someone who can’t give consent is still stealing. To have sex with someone who can’t consent is still rape. Gay sex is now basically a consentual action between like-minded individuals. The worn and used lawnmower analogy (from another thread) is on equal par to the pedophilia analogy. Again, homosexuality for the most part (I will talk of prison homosexuality later) by in large consists of people with mutual attraction and consent doing what they believe/feel/know (etc) is true and right.
Now for prison sex. Prison sex is more akin to pedophilia than homosexuality. The only similarity between prison sex and homosexuality is that it is done between two or more men. I say it is more akin to pedophilia because there is a coercive technique that forces the submissive person to put out or die. You can find more information at Stop Prison Rapes about this issue. Rape is never consentual. By definition, if rape was consentual then it is no longer rape. Again, the lack of consentuality makes this act more akin to pedophilia because it is done by force/coercian/nonconsentually and not by the desires of all the parties involved.

So, they’re sort of like the US. They used to outlaw homosexuality because, despite the official seperation (sp?) of Church and Sate, they were still heavily influenced by Conservative (so named in the US) Christian ideals. Now, however, they’ve switched to reason, and have corrected their error.

Just ask some gay men in theyre 30’s- 40’s if they have lost a partner in the past which died of this. And how sad will his parent & relatives be.
