Hoo boy, what a week!

It was time to make the semi-annual trek to San Antonio to visit my parents. This year, it’s turned into a real wingding; my brother and sister-in-law and grandmother are here, as well.

My sister-in-law has a national commercial running right now on ESPN and other channels. It’s for 7-11, and she plays a woman who is surprised that 7-11 can make a sandwich not on white bread with wilted lettuce. (I’m sure y’all have seen it.) It’s quite a rush to look up to the TV and see her.

We did the family Hanukkah thing Wednesday night and opened presents. My mom and dad paid off my car, so I got the title. This is the first car I’ve ever owned free and clear. I am so proud of myself. (FTR, I made all but the last payment myself.)

It’s been very nice to see my whole family together for this long.

Wow, that’s great news! Owning the car outright, a family member who’s almost a star, a trip to San Antonio! Wonderful! I hope all of 2005 is just as great!

Hooray for you and your whole family! I’m very happy for the joy that comes through while I read your post. My family also has a tradition that the last payment on a car or a house or, stretching it, anything one has worked long and hard for, *must * be a gift. You should be proud and humble, grateful and happy and hopeful, which is the attitude with which anyone should live their lives.

There’s no reason you should know me, and of course I know you only by your presence on the SDMB, but please accept my very best respects, regards and wishes. Happy new year.

Thanks for the post, MsRobin.

It’s good to read about a holiday gathering that was nice for a change.

I have a friend who was in a Progressive commercial. (The one where the guy has the tape recorder on the telephone.) It is pretty cool to see someone you know on the screen, isn’t it?
