Almost forgot to post this year. The weather has been very crappy around here. Cold and damp all spring. No outdoor activity for us until it warms up a bit.
+Plus+ a terrible wind storm blew down a section of my backyard fence. We’d rather not give the neighbors a peep show.
Today is International Worker’s Day, frequently called May Day. Mayday is also a aero/nautical distress call. That’s how I remember my friend’s anniversary is today…cause if I was married to her, I’d be screaming “mayday, mayday, mayday!”
I definitely lead a sheltered life. I didn’t encounter the couplet about outdoor sex (which I’m sure long predates Coulton’s song) until I read it in Allan Sherman’s 1973 book The Rape of the A.P.E.
But the idea has been expressed in terms more fitting for a General Audience. By Julie Andrews, no less.:
Personally, I prefer the live version from “Best.Concert.Ever,” but that’s just a matter of personal taste.
Some years ago, Coulton remixed the song with samples from the Beatles’, “Why Don’t We Do It In the Road,” and Prince’s, “Sexy M.F.,” and I think it may even be a little better than the original. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anyplace to link to it (including Coulton’s web site where he first posted it), I expect due to IP issues.
