Horchata recipes/substitutions?

Now that the weather is finally getting warm, I’m considering a horchata experiment. All the recipes I’ve seen so far involve pulverizing white rice in a food processor. This seems like a big mess - is there any reason I couldn’t use rice flour, which I already have in the house?

(Also, I’m not attached to any of the recipes I’ve seen so far, so if you have a good one, please share.)

Can you get tiger nuts where you are?

Horchata de chufa.

¡Buen provecho!

Probably not - I wouldn’t know a tiger nut if I tripped over one. But if it involves Mexicans or Central Americans, I can probably buy it within a mile of my apartment - thus the attempt at rice-based horchata. (The other may have to wait until I make it back to Spain.)
