I often hear the more scientifically literate condemning the concepts of horoscopes and astrology. Of course, we all know they’re nonsense. I guess some people derive a bit of fun from them, and I guess that’s OK.
But does anyone actually know anyone personally who believes this stuff? I’m pretty sure I’ve never in my life heard anyone profess any kind of actual belief in astrology, but they must exist - otherwise skeptics wouldn’t feel the need to explain that they’re nonsense.
So - anyone know anyone who believes in astrology?
I worked with a woman years ago who was always saying crap like “He’s a typical Scorpio!” in all seriousness. What was most interested were the 3 Scorpios - they were as different as any 3 people could be. So which one was typical? I never could figure that out…
Yes I do, they’re pretty much all females that I can immediately remember.
Never met anyone so bad to mention any planets being in retrograde like campp but I hear all the time that “Oh that’s a typical X for you.” Or “Well I am an X and can’t help it.” or some other deluded bullshit.
I don’t believe in astrology per se, but I’m fairly proud to be a Sagitarius…the Archer…adventerous. And puffed up about the fact that I was born under the planet Jupiter—the “lucky” one. Being born in the Year of the Tiger according to Chinese astrology just makes it even better.
I had a friend who believed in horoscopes and visited a psychic once a year. I couldn’t take her seriously. She freaked out about November 29, for some reason. it was some kind of bad date for her.
So you believe there are only 12 personality types in the world, and you’re the same as one twelfth (or about half a billion) of the people on the planet?
We have a psychic in East TN. I don’t know what the rules are about giving out specific names and locations, so I won’t here. But he’s been “booked” every day for the last twenty-five years or so. My brother had an appointment with him that was years away. He doesn’t charge for his readings. People come to him from all over. I was afraid to see him for fear of what he might tell me…I prefer to believe that I’m lucky and leave it at that.
