What's your sign? (Multi-part question)

What’s your sign?

I’m an Aquarius, born February 17.

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?

Personally, I don’t. But I find that a lot of astrological “insight” is pretty much accurate.

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?

I have a friend who actually consults an astrologer and pays good money to have a chart drwan up for really major things. I think she’s a fool for it, but to each his own…

What’s your sign?
Neon.

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?
Nope.

Does Nancy Reagan count? (But then, how well does anyone know the former First Lady, anyway?)

What’s your sign?

Sagittarius, November 30.

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?

Nope, but it sure is fun to read about.

Yes…I lost a budding friendship over this. She seemed totally sane and grounded in rationality, and one day I discovered she literally cosulted a star chart every day to discover what to do. We still tried, but she was bothered by my total lack of belief and I found it hard to kowtow to her starchart when we wanted to go out, etc.

BTW, thanks for setting up the formatting in such an easy way.

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?

Same i.e. nope.

What’s your sign?

Sagittarius, November 25.

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?

Only if the planets fall on me.

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?

Nope.

Scorpio

Hell no. It’s the biggest load of BS in the world.

And no. I know a couple people who look at their horoscopes for more than just fun (as in, ooh, a major decision today, I’ll be on the look out for it) but nothing bigger than that.

Hey, cool.

What’s your sign?

Piecies. The fish one.

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?

Nope. A relative of mine had a natal chart made up for me as a kid. I read through it and MSTied it.

The only horoscope that means anything to me is the one the onion puts out each week.

What’s your sign?

Not really. I do like to check my horoscope after the fact and see how often it hits, for entertainment purposes. I’ve also used the description of sign personality as a game of get to know you with new friends. Here’s a description of your sign and one of mine, what do you think they got right, and what do you disagree with.

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?

my sister got into astrology enough that i had my chart done at her behest, but she never based major decisions on it.

that’s April 19th. :smack:

my horoscope said i’d have problems with technology today.

What’s your sign?

Gemini, June 7
Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?

Zero stock in it, but I like to read about it. The stars and planets fascinate me on a much more scientific level, but these astrologers fascinate me in a different way; there are some people out there who are so into this, and they study the stars and they see something totally different than what I see. I think they are seeing only what they want to see, however. It’s like watching someone else’s hallucinations. It’s really neat.

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?

Nobody I know is in that deep. I did have a friend who liked to go see psychics sometimes, and I would go with her just for fun (and with a critical eye). She would come away from these people with some sort of cosmic enlightenment; I would come away from it thinking “Damn. I could do that. But I would only cater to celebrities, since I don’t want to take money away from poor folk who might not know any better.” (only from rich folk who don’t know any better!)

Once, a psychic read my astrology chart, some kind of in depth moon sign venus rising karma tripping kind of thing (one of my friends ideas - AGAIN). Anyway, dude said I was going to win $500. I laughed. I don’t gamble. A week later, I went to one of my favourite “perfume conventions”, they took my name at the door - and I won $500. Neat-o. Coincidence? I think so.

What’s your sign?

Sagitarius, Nov. 30.
I share a birthday with the lovely Anaamika! :swoon:

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?

no (well, unless planetary movement is going to send one physically crashing into us…)

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?

no.

Yeah, I lead a boring life…

I’m an Aquarius. I don’t take horoscopes seriously unless I can use it as a good excuse for being weird.

Hey watch it, no swooning, I just cleaned.

(Desparately searches for a dashing comeback. Fails. Wanders away dejectedly)

What’s your sign?
Virgo, but barely (9/21)

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?
None whatsoever. That said, apparently I’m a very typical Virgo (anal retentive, no one is more critical of me than I am, etc.). Also, I do have an old copy of Love Signs in my living room, just for fun.

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?
No, thank og!

January 23 - Aquarius. I put no stock in it at all. But I had a friend (emphasis on had) who would say, and believe, things like “Of course he’d say that. He’s a Scorpio!” At first, I thought it was a joke. But she was serious.

I was born May 30. I am a Gemini.

I don’t think about astrology all that much. I have a friend who is intrigued by it. She buys tons of books that explore all the intricacies. Her knowledge about it goes way beyond just having her chart read.

She knows/reads about the stuff like:

—based on your sign, are you and your SO compatible sexually?

—based on where and what time of day you were born, what kind of person are you deep down?

—what is your sun sign, your moon sign, your earth sign, etc.?

She did a complete deal for me once (and sent me a copy of it) where she compared my compatibility with my ex-husband versus my compatibility with my current husband. She cross-referenced all kinds of info–birthdate, birthplace, time of birth, all the different signs that go along with each personality trait–I gotta tell you that even though I don’t put my faith in anything astrological, her readings of me, my ex, and my husband were as accurate as I 've ever seen. Still, I approach it as something purely entertaining. Nothing more. I don’t base any decisions–big or small–on where the stars are.

prepares to be bashed and flambéed

What’s your sign?
Sag sun (Nov 26), Aries moon, Aquarius rising, Scorpio Mars and…uh…I forget the rest.

No earth in my chart at all, which is very weird, if you know me.

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?
Destiny? As in fortune telling? No. At most, a good, complete chart can warn you of generalized points of interest, perhaps warnings of things, but nothing is set in stone, and everything a chart tells you can be met positively or negatively. Knowing that you’re likely to be feeling the impulse to spend too much money, for example, can make you more aware of that tendancy and stop yourself from doing it. Does this mean the horoscope was wrong, because you didn’t spend the money? I don’t feel it does; the impluse was there as predicted, but you can overcome it.

I do find natal wheels as a whole reveal a whole lot of accurate information about every single person I have the information on. Just sign sun, not so much. The sun sign is important, and the one that everyone knows, but the houses and interactions between the other planetary signs reveals much more accurate information.

Do I think that the position of the planets at birth “causes” personality types? No. But I do think there is a correlation, much in the way that skirt lengths are correlated with the stock market, but one doesn’t cause the other.

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?
Based just on horoscope? No. But incorporates astrological information along with other criteria (thoughts, emotions, logical plans), yes, I know quite a few people who do. But I know weird people.

I would like to add that I do think there is such a thing as “self-fulfilling” prophecy. Once you’ve been told or read something about yourself, you may subconciously make it come true…
