What's your sign? (Multi-part question)

Scorpio - Nov 6

No, but I have found that I have either an intense affinity or loathing of other Scorpios, never in between. No other sign has this consistency.

Not aware that any of my friends/colleagues live by the stars.

What’s your sign?

I’m a Libra, born September 26.

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?

No. That said, I believe that there’s a good chance that if you read your horoscope, you might find good advice. You might find twelve pieces of good advice on any given day, but that can be a bit overwhelming, so I just stick with what they say for Libra and any friends who happen to be nearby, if I’m checking at all. Anyway, I’m a Friday’s child, so I’m loving and giving, and that’s all I need to know.

(For the record: I’m a pretty good Tarot card reader. I don’t believe that the cards have mystical powers, but if you know what you’re doing, you can convince complete strangers that they do!)

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?

No. I’ve known people who have had charts done and who seem to pay a lot of attention to what the stars are telling them, but I’ve never known anyone who’s made decisions based on their star charts. I’ve even known people who seem to believe this stuff and who have said that their sign isn’t compatable with friends/lovers/me, but refused to cut the relationship as a result.

Of course you’d say that, you’re a Scorpio!

 @ FairyChatMom

takes pity Somebody have a good comeback line for him?

Anybody?

Bueller?

Bueller?

Virgo. August 24.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Nope.

What’s your sign?
Virgo, on the cusp of Leo. Aug. 24. I’m a little embarrassed to know what “on the cusp” means.

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?
No. There was a time when I read my horoscope every day, with no apparent benefit. :smack:

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?
I know one guy who has studied it extensively, as a seduction aid. He believes it, some, and he says women take it more seriously than men do. Example: “She’s a (I forget which sign,) so she’s controlled by the feet. If I can get her shoes off and massage her feet, she’s definitely going to bed with me.”

I have known a few others who took it seriously, but I haven’t seen them for years.

I don’t actively scoff at astrology believers. If it makes them feel good, fine.

What’s your sign?

Aquarius, January 21st. I’m also a Metal Monkey by the Chinese chart.

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?

Not really, but I like to look the information up, just to see what matches.

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?

(There seem to be a lot of Sagittarians here!)

Capricorn. Year of the Dog.

I only ever read my horoscope on my birthday, and only for kicks.

Former President Reagan, perhaps.

What’s your sign?

Gemini

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?

None at all

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?

No

I have a friend who actually consults an astrologer and pays good money to have a chart drwan up for really major things. I think she’s a fool for it, but to each his own…

I am a Sagetarius, born Dec. 1. I am also born under the sign of the Ox born 1961. I don’t take it seriously nor do I know anyone who does.

Sign: Gemini.

Do I put stock in it: Not one whit. However, I’m very good at doing chart interpretations (hobby I had in high school). I’m good with the cold read.

Do I know anyone who puts stock in it: Not really.

WOW there are a lot of Sagi’s Hmmmmm :dubious:

What’s your sign?

Cancer, June 27th. And by the way: did it hurt when you fell from heaven?

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?

None at all. But I still find it creepy how much my personality is like my astrological sign says it’s “supposed” to be. Every time I read a description of what Cancers are like, it’s me to the letter.

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?

No. My mother was into it for a while when I was in my 20’s, but I don’t think even she took it seriously.

Sun in Libra, Moon in Scorpio (don’t mess with me!) and Pisces Rising

Um, I’ll probably be pilloried for this, but I have studied astrology for over 25 years. I wrote for an astrological forecasting company and spent a lot of time analyzing cycles and trends using astrology. I was a major skeptic of astrology until I had my chart done by someone who knew their stuff. I found that an accurate chart, in the hands of someone who actually knows what they are doing, can be a useful tool (one of many) to understanding the past, present and future. I’ve seen it work far too many times to chalk it up to coincidence. But if others don’t “believe” in astrology, I’m cool with that.

Having just exposed myself (whee!), I would say that I don’t base all major decisions strictly on astrology. Again, it is one of many tools. Right now, I’m undergoing a couple of pretty heavy transits, and I’m trying to learn from challenges I’m in the midst of (it’s a Pluto thang). Looking at my chart, I know when the shit will hit the fan, but not necessarily what I should do about it. There’s this little thing called free will that comes into play as well. And yes, I do know others who consult their charts when making big decisions.

Be gentle with me

How do you respond to someone who suggests that this is something on the order of a self-fulfilling prophecy? Or that astrology keeps its statements just vague enough that anyone could apply them to just about anything?

What’s your sign?

I’m a cancer, born July 19th

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?

No, I occasionally read the horiscopes when I’m bored and have read the other decent parts of the paper, usually right before I read the sports section, as I feel they are of about the same importance in my life. When I was a kid, I had a cancer pendant I got as a gift. I thought it looked cool and wore it a lot, until the other kids made fun of me for it (it does look like a 69 … and 12 year-olds aren’t deep).

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?

Sort of. I have a friend that believes way too much in it for my own comfort. I gave up on trying to understand or debate when he wouldn’t accept the fact that I will not and can not be made to believe that the world as we know it will end in December, 2012.

Libra, Scorpio rising, born September 28. Wasn’t I just talking to someone about this a few days ago? Sure seems like it. I’m an Earth Horse, too, by the way.

Do you put a lot of stock in planetary movements and destiny?

Not really. I have a great interest in astrology and got a book which tells a lot about it and shows you how to construct a fairly simple birth chart. With the book’s help, I made charts for several people. I don’t really believe in astrology, but it is fun to read about it. I also really enjoy making those little charts, partly because I get to ask all sorts of nosy questions about where and when people were born.

Do you know anyone that really, truly, bases major decisions on what their horoscope says?

Well, I know someone who almost didn’t start dating the man she is now happily married to because she’s a Libra and he’s a Virgo. Other than that, no.

I do sometimes use being a Libra as an excuse to do “Libra-like things”–I’m not very decisive, for example–but I know it’s my own nature and not the fault of stars and planets. I only use the excuse jokingly, though.

You’re welcome. I thought it’d make things simpler.

My apologies for having absolutely no clue what you are asking about.

Feydeau, I’ve seen pick-up lines by the signs on a few astrology websites. SolGrundy’s, I think, is the standard one provided as Cancer’s.
