Horrible Bosses

Went to see the film Horrible Bosses yesterday - it was not horrible, but it was not great.

My SO didn’t like it at all he didn’t find hardly anything funny and didn’t have a single moment where he laughed out loud. I liked it a bit better and did find a couple of lines and situations very funny.

It is nowhere near as wretched as Hangover II, but not even close to being as funny as Bridesmaids. I would say it sits right in the middle of those two.

If you are eager to see it - the cast is great, some nice cameo performances and again, I thought there were a couple of scenes that were good. Not a waste of money, but if you are in no hurry to see it, by all means wait for DVD or cable!

I concur.

Best wishes,
hh

What’s the film’s take on horrible bosses? Do you need to become like them to defeat them, or can it all be done with slapstick?

One lesson from the film: don’t hire anyone named Motherfucker without checking out his qualifications.

Murder.

Also, Jennifer Aniston in nothing but a lab coat.

Saw it and thought it was quite funny.

The most unfortunate thing about it is the movie would be right goddamned hilarious if there weren’t 17 different trailers showing the funny parts. That’s not to say that the movie isn’t funny in and of itself, and it’s not to say the trailer gave it away…it’s that there are SO MANY different trailers for it that they all show different parts.

All of that being said I thought it was still very funny.

I thought it was hilarious. One of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a loooooong time.

This is why I hate watching trailers. Why do they DO that? Luckily I have yet to see even one trailer for this movie. I haven’t seen it yet, and probably won’t for a couple/few weeks, I have too many other movies on my plate (at least 14 just in the next week) but I like Jason Bateman so I’ll see it at some point before it leaves the theaters just for him.

I just want to see if for Colin Farrel as a boss.

Like the OP’s SO I don’t think I laughed out loud at it once either. It was pretty weak stuff and I felt kind of foolish spending the price of a movie ticket on it (even at matinee). Believe it or not I think I was more invested in the storyline and how it would end up rather than hoping to see something funny.

You must be weird. Bad bosses are the kind of problem we would rather laugh about, because serious public discussion of it is unthinkable.

I saw it yesterday and laughed until I cried. It’s typical lowbrow stuff but for some reason it tickled the hell out of me. I hated “The Hangover”, having not been able to make it through the whole film after two attempts. “Bridesmaids” was great fun but I think I like this one even better.

I thought it was the best thing Jennifer Anniston has ever done.

Loved it, laughed my ass off.

Not true. Could you see her pussy?

Charlie was great.

Two or three months ago the spouse and I got approached by one of those “surveys in the mall” places to take a survey, and it ended up being for this movie. They showed us some scenes and a trailer and had us offer opinions. Both of us thought this looked like the worst movie we’d heard about in a long time, and predicted it would either die a quick death or be popular among the demographic who likes frat boy movies and “Jackass.” Now that it’s released, I suspect our second prediction is coming true.

No offense to anyone who likes that kind of movie–just not my cuppa tea. I don’t plan to go see it.

Does it make a difference if you’ve had a boss like one depicted in the movie. Mrs. Cad’s boss is just like Kevin Spacey in the movie. In fact, she [not a sic] even looks a little bit like Kevin Spacey. My last boss (actually boss’ boss) was Kevin Spacey plus I had a Jennifer Aniston about 20 years ago too. Might have been better if my boss’ looks were anywhere near the same county as Jen’s.

So yes, it was funny.

I haven’t seen it, but I can’t understand how being sexually harassed by Jennifer Aniston is a problem. It’d probably motivate me to work more overtime.

Which is also how his 2 co-conspirators felt about it.
