Also on the HBO boards, Jim Beaver (Vietnam Joe) said that Milch brought everyone together for a meeting before they filmed the last episode. Jim said Milch explained his vision for the show, and that he (Jim) was so affected that he was “in tears”

See, I read about that here, and it’s what kept me watching for 3-4 episodes. Then I got so tired of Rebecca DeMornay screaming every single line (I’m guessing it’s not her fault, but it was fucking annoying), robot-surfer-kid, characters acting in ways no human would, merely because It’s In The Script, deliberate obfuscation and withholding of information to create an artificial and unearned air of “mystery,” and seeming revelations about magic, John’s identity, etc. that actually provided no information or plot movement, I gave up.
Not only am I pissed that *Deadwood *is gone, and replaced by this, but also that *Carnivale *got canceled because people found it too opaque and confusing, yet HBO decided to inflict this trash on us in its wake.
