Horror Movie Fans

I’m pretty excited. The SFIFF is organizing a orror festival here in SF. I’ve got tonight off, Sunday off, and most of tomorrow. There is nothing stopping me from seein these movies.

The festival itself is called DARKWAVE and frankly, it kicks ass. One movie is having it’s US premiere, all of them are realively rare, and I haven’t seen any of them yet (a rare feat for me).

One is from Zentropa entertainment (Lars (von) Triers company) and continues the highly popular Danish Hopital Horror genre, one is from Tsukamoto Shinya who is an amazing director (he did Tokyo Fist and Testuo Iron Man) and one contains Ted Nuegent as Ted Teugent psychopathic madman. ahhhhh

oh and one of my favorite bands. I am Spoonbender is doing ambient works on Sunday. This. Will be a great weekend.

So, has anyone else seen any of these films? Good bad, what are you’re favorite horror films. Come on, share.

oh and if you go to the site, you can view some film clips of the films.

I have Zentropa on video. Not horror, but interesting and a bit surreal. I also have The Kingdom, Lars von Trier’s ghost hunt set in a Danish hospital. Again, not horror; but nice and creepy. I liked the second half better than the first, which I thought moved too slowly. The very end – the very last shot – makes me want to see The Kingdom II.

Personally, I think they should show the wacky Zombie! vs. Mardi Gras!

If anyone knows where to get or see The Kingdom II, please please let me know. I know at least two people who want to see it very much.

I believe you’ll have to wait. They showed it at the Castro about a year ago, I believe it is not yet out on video. I love the sinking poop scene in it. Hilarious.
