Horse (and rider) saves boy from grizzly

Everyone should have a horse like this!

StG

Wow. Warhorse material! it’s great that she bought him too.

Especially when you consider what happens to a lot of end-of-season horses from camps and dude ranches.

StG

Wow, very cool. I love her quote about nothing in her body was going to let that bear hurt that boy. I doubt I could ever be so courageous.

That’s awesome. Both of them were very brave!
That is a beautiful horse, and I’m glad she decided to buy him too.

I imagine you’re referring to dude ranches sending the horses to slaughter when they’re no longer needed for trail rides? It is a shame that there is such a horse overpopulation issue nowadays that so many of them end up being sold for slaughter.

What a great story! I am forwarding that one on to friends!

Whoa, that’s quite a story. I loved this quote from the article:

Now that’s a mental image for you!

I can’t imagine what the boy’s father must have thought as his panicked horse carried him at a breakneck gallop away from his small boy being chased by a frickin’ grizzly.

If that dad’s single, I suggest he marry her fast. Nothing like a good grizzly episode to bond a step-parent and child.

Literally. He’s believed to be part Percheron. Although we think of them as draft horses today, they were originally bred to be warhorses.

He channeled his forbears for sure!

“He was fine, and I got my biggest tip of the season,” Bolster said.

I guess so!

Look at his horse, his horse is amazing.

I wonder if you gave him a lick, if he’d taste just like raisins? :stuck_out_tongue:

This rider and Tonks, the horse, will be on Letterman tonight.

Wow, thank you for sharing this, StG. I have tears in my eyes right now.

Recently watched the segment from Letterman. Both rider and horse seemed incredibly humble. Great story. Wish them all well.

That great big horse was more afraid of the audience and the bright lights than he was of a charging bear!
