Just looking at my calendar, and noticed July 1st is Canada day.Caloo, calay!
Any Canadiacs out there? Just what is it you celebrate/do on Canada day? Wrestle bears, finally shed 8 layers of Long Johns; what?

I woke up today so glad to live in this beautiful, noble, free country.
Canaday is the birthday of our nation. It’s the day that the Fathers of Confederacy signed Canada into being on lovely Prince Edward Island, in Charlottetown.
Dunno what everyone else is up to; but my family is having a barbecue, my friends are all out drinking (beer, prolly;), and I’m going to go downtown to parade up and down Rideau Street and see where the evening takes me. There’s a stage set up in front of the Parliament buildings; perhaps I’ll see what’s going on there.
Happy Canada Day, Northern Dopers!
I’m glad they decided to make all that space Canada instead of calling it something like “Northern Cold Place.” I’ve been there 5 or 6 times and I love the people and the scenery. I was even offered a job as an apprentice bandit by some thieves who lived on a mountain in BC. They said they’d help me build a cabin. I politely declined, but I was flattered to be offered a job in their gang. I don’t know if they wanted a wheel or trigger man, but I could have spent a LOT of time in Canada.
Rejoice, Canadiacs!
