Drink beer! Grill stuff! Watch fireworks! Go crazy!
I promise to do the same on Monday.
… but by then, Canada Day will be over, even for us.
Many thanks, swampbear!
Thanks, eh?
Happy Canada Day to you all!
And for Montrealers, happy moving day!
My friend in St. Boniface had to move last night - we were teasing him that it must be a Francophone thing…
Happy Canada* Day, y’all. **
*I am constitutionally required to mention that it is also Memorial Day in Newfoundland and Labrador.
** Yes, I am an immigrant.
Celebrating my second Canada Day as a seventh-generation Canadian!
(Another immigrant—born abroad and feeling like I’m getting away with something by claiming to be Canadian.)
Meh, it’s a nation of immigrants. We’re just part of the weave. Hope you have a big bash in the big city.
On a personal note, we - the AttackClan - are going to be in Vancouver in August. Any interest in a dopefest? You’re there, I’d be there,** Foldup Rabbit** is somewhere out there, Johnny LA lives in Washington and has a plane or six.
Should I start a thread /suggest a date and wrangle it from there?
Absolutely!
Happy Dominion Day !
Hope everybody is still having a happy one!
Had a pleasant surprise today–Parks Canada had free admission to our national parks. I had been planning to spend the day at Waterton Lakes National Park, and when I pulled up to the park gates, I was handed a day pass and was told that on Canada Day, admission was free. Bonus!
So, I headed to some of my favourite places in the park, stopped to let a bear cross the road, ate lunch in a favourite spot, and had a thoroughly fine day.
How did others spend their Canada Day?
Got the heck out of Ottawa! 500,000 people on Parliament Hill - all of them trying to get a look at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge? No shade. Too many people. Drove to see friends in a small town 40 minutes south. Little community park, local musicians (I am being charitable here), home cooking by the local church ladies, sunshine and loads of shade under the maple trees. Met up with our good friends, at well, laughed lots and had a blast!
And they let us bring our dog.
I was going to post this thread this morning. I even had a few extra minutes before I had to leave for work. Alas, I don’t function well until about 20 miles or so down the road.
I did play Canada Day Up Canada Way at work, though.
It sounds like celebrations are getting started. Fireworks are going off. I expect it to be politely noisy tonight!
Attack from the 3rd dimension: A plane or six? Don’t tease me! I’d be happy if I had one! Actually, I live so close to the border that a plane would be superfluous. I guess I’m about 35 miles from Vancouver. I could do a Dopefest. Maybe even bring the roomie to meet my ‘imaginary friends’ if she’s up to it and not working.
Happy Canada Day to my northern neighbours!
…and the photos are where, exactly? I haven’t seen Waterton since I was 2 years old, but it’s on my bucket list…
Nice day at Canada Place in Vancouver. They put on a really great parade, and the cable company gave out nice little towels with the flag on them. I love Canada Day swag. Home for food and then out again for fireworks.
Spark up your BBQ’s… boyz.
What did we do - oh yeah, went for a long walk, had KFC for lunch, drove down to visit with Jim’s parents and show them the new baby (the new Mustang), got stuck in one construction related traffic jam after the next, and came home and are currently watching “The Hulk” with Ed Norton. Good day!
So here I am in Texas, but had a pretty good Canada Day anyway.
First, Zyada remembered the date. Then I wore my Canada socks to work (the white ones with “Canada” and the flag in red), which greatly amused a lot of people. And finally, I got to see William Shatner making even more of a fool of himself than usual.
Happy Canada Day!
