Happy canada day

I did take a few photos today:

Cameron Lake. Right in the southwest corner of Alberta. That mountain in the background is actually in Montana–the border goes through the lake just shy of that mountain.

There were still pockets of snow in the forest.

As the snow melts, it runs off. In this one, runoff is heading to the lake (Lake Akamina) about ten yards behind me.

Red Rock Canyon. It looks pretty harmless here, but further upstream, it’s a narrow canyon, about 25 yards deep. Very dangerous, and I actually saw people down there.

The bear. This is on the road coming back from Cameron Lake, and was not entirely unexpected, as I’ve seen bears before along this road. He crossed the road in front of me (I was barely moving, due to traffic, but I hit the brakes when he burst out of the forest right in front of me), and by the time I had grabbed my camera off the passenger seat, he was up the hill a little bit. Still, I think it’s a good shot.

Waterton is on your bucket list Le Ministre? You should check it off by getting a gig playing piano for afternoon tea at the Prince of Wales Hotel there.

I operated a flight into Toronto last night at around 9:30pm.

I’ve been flying over fireworks for almost 40 years.

Last night’s show pretty much took the cake. Not only were there easily a dozen professional displays around the city environs, but darn near every residential block had somebody launching aerial rockets. We were over the burbs & city for probably 15 minutes total and it was just non-stop. I’ve never seen anything that thorough anywhere in the US.

We couldn’t smell all the Labatt’s, Moosehead, and Molsen, but I have to imagine there was quite a cloud of that mixed in with all the firework sulphur & BBQ smoke.

Good on 'ya, Canucks.

William Shatner sings “O Canada.” Better late than never.

Psst ! See post # 19

Oh, crap. How did I totally miss that?

We try to blank it out of our memories. Not seeing it is totally understandable.

Obviously you have me on your ignore list. (sniff)

Went for a walk around midnight the evening on Canada Day. The fireworks were pretty well over, but there was an almost constant smell of gunpowder all through the area.

{Insert obvious joke about blank post.}
