We have a new Hot Wheels track that has a loop-de-loop. The car is propelled by passing through two battery-driven rotating rubber disks. It’s really cool.
But.
They give you only one car, and don’t tell you where to find more that will work in it. The car is a bit wider than your average Hot Wheels or Matchbox car, and has ribbed sides. And they show three cars running at once, which would be cool because there’s one place they could crash.
Today we went to a department store with toys, and looked through all the cars, with no luck.
Does anyone know how I can find the cars I need? I tried the Mattel website and struck out.
Thanks,
Sue
The Supercharger is designed to use other Hot Wheels cars as well. If the car has ribbed side it might be the Ferrari F40 which is available for a while at least ( IIRC it is sceduled to be disco’d this year)
A good way to tell if it is wider than usual is to shake the blisterpack a little, if it rubs or doesn’t move, you have a supercharger winner!
You should try the 95 Mustang, the Ferraris in general (except the Grand Prix replica that just came out, no go there), and if you are looking for loopers, there is a basic rule of thumb; If the Supercharger is close to the loop, try a metal base car, other wise go for plastic bases.
WHat can Isay, I have a five year old boy…
[sub] and I collect the older ones ('68-'73) myself, have made >15K buying and selling as a matter of fact! Geeky, yes… but profitable[/sub]
I have a small collection of original 68 cars still in the blister pack. They still have the original Pay N Save price stickers (89¢ ea.) in the original store bag with receipt. They will go on the market in about 14 years, 3 months when I retire. I traded an old depression era glass vase for them.
Is this the same system as they had in the 60’s/70’s? IIRC, you could use any cars whose wheels are well indented into the side of the car. The supercharger wheels shouldn’t contact the car wheels, only the body.
You can probably find lots of cars that will work – but be careful – a friend ripped up the wheels of his supercharger when he tried to use some matchbox truck.
I was busy with time trials on an extended track, using various traction and anti-traction devices. Pledge on the track, sandpaper on the car seemed to work well.
Thanks! So far, none of the dozen Hot Wheels cars I already owned here work with the Charger. I will try the store again, using your advice mmm, 95 Mustang, Ferrari F40, not Grand Prix, shake that baby, and make sure the bottom’s metal.
Oh, and, yes, the charger is immediately before the loop.
Oh! Forgot to say, wheels indented (I didn’t even think of that!). Pledge on the track? Cool.
My almost-4-year-old grandson said “It sounds like a bug saying ‘America’,” and he’s right. uhh-MARE-ick-ka, uhh-MARE-ick-ka.
Thanks, all! I just knew I’d find an answer here.
Hey racer, you might want to rethink that strategy of waiting. THe reason I feel this is the best time to do so is that the people that collect them and will pay the big bucks are guys who were kids when they came out. The target group is men who are now between 37-50. THis group is in the prime money making age and they have the most disposable income. Email me if you want to discuss, I’m out of collecting but I know a lot of the people in the field and can steer you to the highest money potential.
