However, here’s my take. The first two bits are the only thing I don’t think anyone has touched on, so I’ll keep that section as neutral as possible.
- Here’s a clear lie:
I never did any such thing - I never once “questioned why people were criticizing” me, mainly because there were no “people” criticizing me.
Pure lie, from beginning to end. Go back and check the thread. I posted, special ed came in with his valuable insight, and I asked him “what the fuck his problem was” and didn’t post again until casting my vote. No “people” criticizing. No me “questioning” anyone about non-existant “criticism”.
- Attack the newbie for hurting Town:
Although I understand the argument that unprovoked vanilla claims may be considered “bad play” by some, I also understand that some people don’t agree. That is, there is no clear consensus on the matter.
I think it is a reasonable scum tactic, then, to sieze on my “bad play” and get all high and mighty about how the newbie has hurt Town.
Note that after several people have tried to pin him down on exactly how it hurts Town, and how it differs from Idle Thought’s claim, he continues to retreat from his bold “bitchslap” position to a “it’s a null tell” position.
I think the rest has already been covered by others, but here’s my personal take on it:
There is the poorly justified inconsistency between his reaction to Idle Thought’s post and my own. Note that he attempts this explanation:
The implication, then, is that “bitchslapping” me is going to get me to not claim Vanilla. But, unless we are talking about a bitchslapping of time continum-altering proportions, “bitchslapping” isn’t going to get anyone to un-claim something they have already claimed. This is just pure Grade-A From Concentrate stupidity and doesn’t explain a goddamn thing.

First off, thank you for noting that you have no way of knowing another player is being honest. I’m sure this is fresh information for all Mafia players across the world and may well revolutionize how the game is played.
The failing here is, as others point out, that you don’t have to trust the information to make use of it, and that information given now may be more useful later.
The fact that such a brilliant and clearly superior player continues to focus on the vanilla claim over the potentially useful information on name/role correlation and canon size issues and ignoring that there is at least some value to Town is troubling to me.
Why such questionable reasoning and lies? Scum? Perhaps. Just plain stupid?

I wanted to try to convince Ed to stay, but in the face of… that, I can’t bring myself to do it. That goes far beyond the pale of any in-game banter I have ever seen. I’m not even involved, and I feel like I have to take a step back and wait for the moderator to step in before I can react.

Wow, Ushimitsudoki…I must say, I don’t think mafia is the game for you. You need a much thicker skin to play and I don’t think you’ve got it. Personally, I didn’t see Ed’s “Bitch slap” as being mean, I saw it as being a lighthearted, poking sort of thing. That’s what we do here in mafia, you know. But obviously you took it differently. Still, the vitriol you pour out in the post you just made is pretty much far and beyond any sort of action taken against you.
No offense, believe me, lest you start calling me names too…but seriously, you seem to have it dialed up to 11 right now, not only taking offense at his poking but also the fact that he’s voting for you. Like I said, though, mafia can get pretty emotional…I’d start sitting out games if this is going to be your normal, typical reaction. 
All of this is said light-hearted too, by the way, but still…there wasn’t any need to chastise Ed that way.

The three hypotheticals that you laid out are not difficult to come up with analytically speaking, they also happen to be easy to fake, and lastly some Town players may be inclined to react in unexpected ways so as not to result in Scum having a map of who is what.
I also won’t be joining you in your “safe” assumptions.
I hope that ushi takes the advice of those of us who have assured him that Ed really was just being playfully snarky, and that we really do have fun and get along while calling each other ignorant backstabbing dumbasses.
