Hotel remotes

Three weeks ago, Denver. Hotel remote would work if I pressed really, really hard on the buttons. The channel up button didn’t work at all. I either punched in the station number or cycled down. It was very annoying, but I was only there for a weekend and dealt with it because I was too lazy to call the front desk.

Two weeks ago, New York. The power button on the remote wouldn’t work. The channel buttons worked intermittently. Got it cleared up the second day.

Last week, same hotel, the remote worked fine.

This week, different hotel, New York. Damn power button only works if I hold it close to the floor and angled up at the sensor.

Four weeks, three different hotels and I’m one for four on remotes. This is getting annoying.

Really not a rant. Just something I felt like sharing.

Pull the battery cover off the remote, and spin the batteries(not end for end, just spin them in place with your thumb), or take them out and put them back in. Sometimes this will help clean up the contacts if they are ooogy.

I’d say, name the hotels. I usually figure that most hotels are the same. Yet, it’s the little things that mean a lot. For what it is worth, I usually have the best luck with Marriott. That Book of Mormon is some strange reading right before bed if I can’t get the TV remote to work!

Adam’s Mark in Denver. (I really don’t recommend Adam’s Mark. The amenities for the price just aren’t worth it. They have yet to impress me.)

Dylan Hotel in New York. Nice little boutique hotel, good location, pleasant staff.

Courtyard by Marriott is the second hotel in New York. I stay in Courtyards and Marriotts, mostly, and am very happy with them. And my hotel points. I use the heck out of my hotel points. All the Marriott brands have been good to me.

I’m happy with most hotels. Adam’s Mark is a notable exception.

I just started this thread because after four years of travelling and not having any recurring problems I hit a string where I just can’t get a reliable remote.
