So, the e-mail competition is heating up. After Gmail (I presume) forced Yahoo into giving its account-holders 100 MB of space, Microsoft now ups the ante:
They’re also upgrading the virus scanner. But ya know, what they really need to implement is a better spam blocker.
For some reason, I can’t find this announcement on their US website.
I really hope that they do this for US Hotmail, too. I’ll be carefully reading future Hotmail emails and hoping.
And Earthling, you’re right. The spam is just unbelievable. Sometimes, the subject lines make me blush. Not too good when I’m at my parents or school and someone is looking over my shoulder.
ZDNet now has a news article about the capacity increase, so I’d imagine it’ll be offered to Hotmail accounts worldwide.
Yep, I just saw an article about the upgrade and started poking around in Hotmail and MSN. Sure enough, there are some announcements regarding the virus checking upgrade this summer and the 250MB upgrade in the fall.
And I just set up a Gmail acct yesterday night…heh.
