Not to mention Crystal Gayle and Tanya Tucker.
Another JJ fan here - and yet another “not just a front-chick, but a real band member” kinda gal. I remember when she tried to pick up a hot friend-girl of mine back in Santa Barbara - I had no idea she swung that way. I love her cover of Sweet’s song AC/DC and the video featuring Carmen Electra…
Seconded like crazy.
Evidence for Stevie.
Is everyone forgetting early 70’s Chaka Khan?
Grace Slick deserves at least a mention.
From the late 70s, gotta put in a plug for my home state girl, Cindy Wilson.
I’m also on board with Stevie Nicks and Chrissie Hynde.
Another vote for Linda Ronstadt, but a simultaneous vote for Olivia Newton John.
Nancy Wilson of Heart.
I was going to say those women and in that order.
No love for little Suzi Quatro? Cherie Currie of The Runaways?
I’m voting for Debbie Harry.
Mariah Carey was totally hot in the 70’s.
Why has that police car been parked outside my house for so long?
I turned 12 in 1980. I think I’d be OK if I had a little thing for little Mariah Carey.
I’m gonna tell 'em where you live old man.
Damn edit window!
Pat Benatar is solidy identified with the 1980s, but she started to rock in the late 1970s.
Same thing with Debbie Harry
Today, though, Debbie Harry looks like a middle-aged ReMax real estate agent …
And Pat Benatar coud easily be mistaken for a middle school principal …
Still, in the working-class Buffalo neighborhood of my wonder years, most teenage girls had Cherie Currie hair well into the 1980s, so she resonates with me on a primal level. She’s also held up much, much better.
Is that the other Curie in the picture with Joan Jett? If it is she looks kind of looks like a…um…man.
It’s 30 years later. I don’t know why we should make fun of women back then who look middle aged now. Fuck, they’re all fifty+ years old.
In Debbie Harry’s case, 63- she was 34 when Heart of Glass hit
And not the Currie’s- they’re still only like 35 or so.
I’ll go with Nancy Wilson, if for no other reason than that she thanked me personally for buying a ticket to the concert when I stopped at the ticket window that afternoon. This was at the War Memorial Arena in Johnstown, PA, sometime around '76 or so.
But yeah, Stevie Nicks was pretty hot too. One of the YouTube links shows her doing ‘Rhiannon’ during a concert on the '75 tour. I saw a show from that same tour, and dayum.
