Grace Slick
Just in case anyone’s wondering where us Linda Ronstadt people get our notions:
Still one of the most beautiful faces I’ve ever seen
Legs (I tend to think of this as Linda’s “Desiree Cousteau” period)
Nipples <– crap, the link broke … Google the “Hasten Down the Wind” album cover art
General come-hither-ness (yes, I know that’s from the 80s, bite me)
Your missing link, sir.
I don’t think it’s really fair I do this since there are people on this board who are much bigger fans of this woman’s music while my interest in her is mostly for … ahem … physical reasons but they haven’t shown up in this thread yet so I’ll take it on myself to name Kate Bush.
Also, if we broaden the definition of “rocker chick” a bit, Carly Simon.
What about Janet Jackson?
Beaten.
Another not-so-hard-rocking babe more commonly associated with the 1980s, but who started releasing albums in the 1970s: Kim Carnes.
Video from 1980, pre-MTV
Laurie Anderson looked kinda’ cute on the album cover of “United States”, but it would be a stretch to consider her “hot”.
Patti Smith – well, it depends on what angle you look at her. She tried. Still, I love her music, and it would be a sin to leave her off of any list of “1970s rocker chicks.”
Ann and Nancy Wilson are still pretty hot. I’ve seen them play a couple of times in the last few years and lemme tell you, those chicks can smex up the stage big time. I so want to be the creamy center in a Wilson sister sandwich.
What?
I agree with NPD there was no rocker chick hotter than Carly. It depends on how you define rocker. Clearly Olivia Newton-John was among the prettiest singers in the 70s, probably ever, but she was very soft pop and country oriented.
Linda Rondstat too was very country at first, even edging closer to disco with “How Do I Make You,” (one of her few top ten songs that wasn’t a remake)
Once Blondie broke with Heart of Glass Harry was totally identified with Disco.
Real rocker chicks were along the lines of Patti Smith, even Fleetwood Mac was a bit too 70s soft sound to be a real “rocker chick”
So I guess it’s how you define it.
Interestingly no African American chicks really as they were all disco or R&B or though Ammi Stewart and Anita Ward were very hot. (and very disco)
Looks like Ann’s had more than her share of sandwiches.
Carly was pretty attractive, but if you define her as a “rocker”, you might as well throw Maria Muldaur, Karen Carpenter and Helen Reddy in there too.
Yeah.
Am I going to be in trouble for suggesting Toyah Wilcox? She was a bit mentally manic, but she had that oddly nice speech impediment.
What about Tina Turner?
I saw Chrissie Hynde at a Neil Young concert about 6 years ago, and she was still hot.
At age 10 I thought she was scary, but hot- what type speech impediment did/does she have, I don’t recall? And I didn’t know she’s married to Robert Fripp.
Rachel Sweet was also a looker, even at age 14. and apparently still is.
I had a thing for Stevie Nicks back when, it was a thrill to see Fleetwood Mac live and sit close enough to almost touch the stage. She was a little strange, but…
My crush on her from afar lasted until the early 80’s and I saw The Bangles.
Another vote for Ronstadt
Along the same genre - The Delta Lady, Rita Coolidge
Something a little harder (and crustier) - Ruby Starr
Lot’s of good one’s already mentioned. Let me add Wendy O. Williams.
They had A Taste of Honey on one of those PBS specials not long ago. Even though their hit was disco, those woman rock and looked great.
Oh yeah, back in the day
(It’s cool - Janet is one day older than me)
I’ve got a certain hardne… errr, fondness for Pat Benetar, 1978.
 I think she looks better now than she did in 1981! How is that even possible?

Those are just a few of the reasons why, before Princess Diana came along, Kate was the most photographed woman in the world (the world not including the United States). I’m pure het and I think she’s besottedly beautiful. And the thing is, she was even more beautiful in the 80’s and 90’s. What’s endearing is that even with those glamor shots, she could also often look dorky and geeky. Of course, it’s the music that matters most of all, and I was in love with her music long before I ever saw a photo of her.
