Happy to accept a disqualification (either on the grounds of not quite being rock, or not quite being 70’s – though she was signed to a label in '79), but I have to put in a mention for Laura Branigan… on whom i had a crush just from her album photo and voice. 
I didn’t realise until i checked her bio just now that she had died in 2004. Sad.

Those are just a few of the reasons why, before Princess Diana came along, Kate was the most photographed woman in the world (the world not including the United States). I’m pure het and I think she’s besottedly beautiful. And the thing is, she was even more beautiful in the 80’s and 90’s. What’s endearing is that even with those glamor shots, she could also often look dorky and geeky. Of course, it’s the music that matters most of all, and I was in love with her music long before I ever saw a photo of her.
