I had this in the post above, but it just looks wrong. So I’m separating them out.
I don’t think it does. I think it just recognizes that, even though both the character and the actor look like the same person, their hotness is not the same, and you should remember that it matters more how hot the character is, not the actor.
You have to notice the looks, as otherwise there’s nothing to judge. But, for a lot of people, the way they look has less to do with their physical characteristics, but with how they carry themselves.
I did you a disservice using a picture that looks so different. I was trying to focus on how a character and an actress look different, and so I wanted it to be freakin’ obvious. That was the wrong direction to go.
I think this is a better shot of the actress. Sure, it still looks like Abby, but it’s different. Abby would never look quite like that. She wouldn’t carry herself like that. She would wear a little bit more makeup, and have a different hair style.
The difference is subtle. I mean, I voted for Abby as being the hottest. But I would never vote for Perrette, because she is nowhere near as hot. (In fact, I think she’s kinda ugly.) This, on the other hand, is quite hot, despite the file being named improperly.
There can be other differences between the actress and the role, too. To use my choice of Kaylee as an example, Jewel Staite, when given her druthers, prefers to keep to a lower weight than she did while playing Kaylee on the TV series. But I and many other nerds agree that she actually looks better with those few extra pounds. So it’s reasonable to say that, first, Kaylee weighs a bit more than Jewel Staite, and second, that Kaylee is hotter than Jewel Staite in part because of that.
