A man wakes up in the hospital but is unable to move or communicate.
Looked like the writers screened “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” recently. Good episode, better movie.
Good catch.
I thought the guest star had a bit of trouble enunciating. Otherwise, interesting ep.
I know he didn’t have a whole lot to do in this, but I just want to say I love love love Mos Def. He is always a joy to watch.
I wasn’t a big fan of this episode. Nothing against Mos Def, but I just found being inside his head distracting. I don’t watch House to care about the patients. I watch House to listen to him insult Wilson and his staff while he figures out what’s wrong with the patients. Making the show so patient-centered limited that this week.
Then you should avoid the movie 16 Blocks, Mos Def REALLY punches up the poor enunciation.
Overall, I liked the show. It seems like they are trying new things so that the show does not become formulaic.
Formulaic is good. It means I always know what to expect.
I don’t mind the House formula – it’s a structure to hang other elements onto.
I liked the episode, especially when House took over the case in the beginning.
My favorite line was when Foreman was sharing and Mos Def said/thought: “Is this really something you would tell to someone … who could get up and walk away?” Too funny!
Yeah, I mean this is more or less (in my mind) a procedural cop drama with a medical setting.
Can someone explain what device House pulled from under the patient’s pillow? Was it an audio recorder used to spy on conversations said to the patient?
It looked like a mini-recorder. I got the impression that House assumed Taub was going to try to save his job by taking credit for something he didn’t do, so he planted it there. The point being, he knew (or would’ve known) that Taub didn’t come up with the final diagnosis.
He planted it to hear anything any of his minions said. Anything personal about them is good intel from House’s POV.
For a second I thought that was his real mobile phone, and the one in his pocket was just a planted one with fake phone calls on. That would’ve been cool.
I liked how they used the patient as a stand-in for the audience’s take on the relationships between House and all the others. Like the first scene with Wilson: “Wait, you guys are friends?!?”
I liked it. I loved the “wait, wait, WAIT ! Dammit, they should really put “sorry” on the computer.”
What do you guys make of the last shot, with the blurred House POV ? Do you think it’s just a symbol for House being locked inside himself as the patient was, or is there something wrong with him ? Medically wrong, I mean
There was an earlier ep with a autistic kid in it. When you saw the world from his POV you would see large blurred area in his vision moving around his viewpoint. At the end of that ep you saw the world from his POV and he too had an area of blurred vision but a lot smaller than the kids. Nothing really to do with what you asked but it was about seeing the world from House’s POV and it made me think about it.
I just took it as a symbol that House was somewhat “locked in” as well in a emotional way.
My DVR cut off the last bit. Argh! What happened after “You’ll end up alone” ?
god damn, house has been awful this season.
Nothing, that was the end of the ep.
