I particularly didn’t view it as a pro-life stance. Possibly because during the operation scene, my husband turned to me and said “You know you’d better have had the abortion like 20 minutes ago, right?”

I thought about that, too. She didn’t have a husband or partner, or any family at all at her side. Nobody that she loved was standing beside her, begging her not to risk her life, and I think there would be in a real life case.

I’d have enjoyed this episode more if they didn’t blow a major plot point. They hammered home that at 21 weeks, the baby was not yet developed enough to be delivered. I’m hoping that this was just a matter of that being the case when this episode was filmed, because it’s not the case anymore.

They didn’t blow the plot point. In* this* case it was not viable at all. It’s lungs were not developing properly which is why the surgery and steroids were needed.
