House 4/3

The Cameron/Chase affair becomes more widely known at the clinic.
And something medical will occur, most likely.

I think the Cameron/Chase affair is very cute for lack of a better term. I’d love to see them hook-up for a longer term.

Funny, they’re actually married IRL.
Waiting to see how the rest of the staff reacts to the outing of the affair.
'Specially since they lied right to people’s faces about what they were doing when they were actually boinking in various closets around the joint.

Married?? In the show?

In real life. Actually, they don’t appear to be married quite yet, merely engaged to be married (I can’t find anything more recent as an update re actual nuptials).

Big ups for opening the show with a Replacements song!

The guest star was one of my favorite characters-in-passing back when I used to watch The L Word. I just love her look, and she is a good actress.

I didn’t much care for this episode. I do love the guest actress, I’ve seen her elsewhere but this whole episode just sort of fell flat for me.

Just an unmitigated disaster of an episode. Everything about this one was off. I hated the quasi-political aspect of the abortion storyline. I hated Cuddy’s totally irrational interest in this case, which they barely tried to explain. We’re supposed to buy that she’s “an important patient” just because she happens to be a older single mother? House’s supposed vacation sprung up out of the blue and wasn’t really given any justification or significance other than the fact that it’s a blatant set-up for next weeks “very special” episode. House spreading the gossip about Cameron and Chase was pretty lame too, usually he’d have some grand plan as to why he’d do that. His telling Cuddy should have had some ulterior motive. The whole bit with the baby holding House’s finger was like something out of a bad soap opera, and I feel like I saw it on the show before, and House apparently having an emotional breakthrough is about as out of character as it gets. They didn’t even bother to explain why the hell House was even examining the patient in the begin anyways, he’d never go out of his way to give what was apparently a routine check-up before release.

This episode sucked hard and dry.

Yes, this one was pretty bad. Incredibly sappy - the baby holding House’s finger was over the top.

Not to be morbid, but it would have been a much better episode if the patient and/or the baby had died, proving that Cuddy truly was acting irrationally and proving House right again. They haven’t killed off a patient in a while, it’s getting too safe.

I do like that Chase is falling for Cameron, and that it’s unrequited.

Jeez! What’s wrong with me? The episodes I like are panned by the majority of posters, and vice versa. Cuddy’s reaction was based in her identifying with the (Annie Liebowitz ) mother. The “mirroring” was extrapolated from the mother to Cuddy, who desperately wants a baby but without the male committment or involvement.

I thought that the fetus arm bit was graphically cool. Remeber, this is a comic book (or graphic novel) with little basis in reality beyond the obscure medical conditions constantly referenced throughout the show.

I hope they keep the Cameron - Chase sexual shenanigans to a minimum. It is the overplay of sex that has destroyed so many shows for me (like "Bones).

It’s going to get ugly.

I loved the scene where they were all looking at House’s photo saying they were seeing nice emotions in him. Heh-heh…

She’s Mad About You Helen Hunt’s sister. I love her too.

I actually recognized one of the “it might be…” obscure syndromes this time! They said it could be Epstein’s Anomaly, which is a heart defect. It can be caused (I’m sure among other things) by taking lithium, and since I was on lithium while I was pregnant, I got a lot of extra sonograms to screen for it (he didn’t have it).

I missed the very beginning of the episode but wasn’t she supposed to be a famous photographer? Or do you mean something else by asking about her status as “an important patient”?

I hated this episode too. I found it to be an overbearing, anti-abortion propaganda piece, I couldn’t stand the guest actress (I found her character smug, sanctimonious, irresponsible and self-absorbed). I though Cuddy’s behavior was unethical. The scene with the hand was disgusting and manipulative. I thought it sent a bunch of messages that were dishonest and irresponsible and misogynist as hell (“Don’t terminate a pregnancy to save your own life. You’ll be the miraculous execption. And remember, women exist only to be incubators for babies. A fetus is more important than any woman. It’s immoral to terminate a pregnancy to save your own life and of course…a fetus is a BAAAAAAAAABY.”

Bah.

Yes, she was, sort of like a straight Annie Leibovitz, who I think also had a kid via artificial insemination a couple of years ago.

Refreshing to see such a strong pro-life message on prime-time TV! Good for Cuddy! And House was profoundly affected by the baby’s hand reaching out, although even I know that it would just be a coincidence. There’s a famous photo of a boy’s hand doing just that during real-life uterine surgery, even though the kid was unconscious and his hand just sort of flopped out–aha, here it is.

I thought the whole Cuddy baby storyline had sort of petered out–guess not.

Chase and Cameron: I just don’t care.

How was the scene disgusting and manipulative? It comes from actual footage of real fetal surgeries. I have seen the real footage. A fetus at that stage of development can grasp objects, suck its thumb etc (not saying that it would have grabbed Houses finger and I thought the hand itself looked pretty fake).

I don’t care if it was realistic. It was disgusting because it was manipulative. I found it heavy-handed and moralistic. I also don’t believe that House would have been fazed by it.

Of course he would have. He is fazed by a lot of things. And when he is he pops a bunch of pills. Or maybe its a different House I have been watching?
