House 5/14: Holding On

I was sort of hoping that this season is House telling a prison shrink what would happen if he wasn’t in prison and that shrink would be Stephen Fry in his “Bones” "Dr. Gordon Wyatt "role.

when i saw House go nuts on the POTW I immediately thought “back to jail”, possibly even “self sabotage to go to jail bc he can’t deal with the real world without wilson”. definitely not “wow, those clogged pipes will really come back to bite him in the ass”.

and i do wonder about all the cameos that will/won’t happen in the finale.

She’s a nobody.

I’m still hoping Cuddy comes back.

She won’t, and I’m glad. I used to be really into the whole House Cuddy thing (as much as it’s possible to be as an anti-shipper anyway :)) but the last couple of seasons with the baby and everything else just turned me completely off that relationship. I would rather see House’s wife come back at this point. At least that relationship seemed a bit more genuine at the end.

I don’t think House is going to commit suicide because Kutner did. They do try not to repeat things and we know that 13 is going to have assisted suicide some day, so it would be a little much as a viewer to accept it. It would seem like a cheap writing trick. If Kutner and 13 didn’t/weren’t going to, then I’d think House would. He might continue to self-destruct and do some crazy suicide-by-cop thing.

I think Wilson might take the blame. “I threw the tickets down the toilet because I was mad at House for his faux-patient plan.” Who would prosecute him? And even if he was, it could be delayed and stalled. Then House can be thankful to Wilson and actually say “I love you.”

I thought it was going to turn out to be a prank given the whole you’re trying to be Wilson thing. Wilson pranks back - remember the chickens? So I was confused when it wasn’t a prank. Or will it be revealed to be one next week?

I, like others, also thought Wilson would take the fall for the tickets. Not only would he keep House out of jail, he’s dying soon anyways so what difference would it make if he got in trouble. The only problem is that it’s exactly what happened on the series finale of Desperate Housewives the day before. Whether or not the two writers would have had any knowledge of that months ago when they were writing it, I don’t know. Now, why did House just sit there like a moron instead of saying he set them down to go to the bathroom and dropped them…or they got stolen…or he didn’t want them and prove it’s vandalism to flush tickets down the toilet. He was trying to get rid of the tickets not vandalize the building.

Also, regarding the finale, in the previews…

It seemed pretty suggestive that he’s not going to jail. I didn’t see any scenes of him actually in jail. I just went and rewatched it to write this because I wanted to see which two characters were running along a chain-link fence under the assumption that he had broken out of jail, but it doesn’t appear to be the type of fence that would enclose a jail.
We do, see him falling though a floor and and before that we see him laying on a floor near broken stuff with a kid laying next to him but I’m thinking those two things will happen in the opposite order…I’m wondering if that kills him.
Also there’s a scene where you can see him reaching for another person’s hand, but that’s clearly part of the ‘retrospective’ since you can see the dolly tracks around him…damn, took me forever to figure out what those where…
Of course if that comes after the above mentioned falling though the floor thing, then nevermind.

Also with his outburst in the hallway, I liked that. I like that from time to time the writers remind his that his leg hurts all the damn time. That’s why he’s cranky, that’s we he’s annoying, that’s why he’s hooked on Vicodin, that’s why he likes to be alone. It always hurts.

I think Wilson will have some sort of miraculous remission and then House will be stricken with something that kills rapidly.

Zy nailed it IMO. It’s not Wilson, it’s Foreman, trying to kill two birds with one stone. If House goes back to jail then Wilson will try to survive until he gets out at least. And if House truly believes for a few minutes that he is going back to jail, then maybe he’ll stop clogging up the toilets with $500 hockey tickets.

Foreman FTW.

Although I still hate that Chinaman chick, at least she finally did ONE good thing before the series ends: clubbed House over the head with his own cane! That was epic.

Chi Park. Korean-Filipino. Yeah, she does have a thing for assaulting her bosses, doesn’t she?

House suiciding?! Nah, he’s too selfish to do that. Foreman pranking him? He wouldn’t do that to Wilson. Cuddy coming back? Maybe to see Wilson, but the House thing would make that too melodramatic, I hope Lisa Edelstein turned it down. I could accept Cameron maybe making an appearance, but be fine without it too.

If they could prove that him deliberately clogging the plumbing as a prank against Foreman directly resulted in the loss of a multi-million dollar MRI machine, given the nature of his original case I could see it resulting in his parole being revoked. And the 5 month/6 month coincidence? Hey, it’s still a TV show!

All in all I hope they keep the finale dignified and low key. Not having Cuddy show up, or worse something stupid like Moriarty (the guy who shot him back in season two) showing up! I hope they do it like Law & Order: Criminal Intent’s final episode, mostly a regular episode with some acknowledgement that the show’s ending.

I don’t know why I got this image in my head and I certainly don’t think this is the finale so maybe it’s the way I think the finale should end. Then again, maybe it’s just a carryover from this episode.

Standard House episode except there’s a guy that keeps showing up talking to House about a patient. House of course keeps dismissing him with “Who are you?” with that annoyed look he always gives. By the end we realize that he’s a new member of House’s staff and House is losing his memory (like Alzheimer’s) brought on by his vicodin addiction (as we know in House, accurate medicine is not necessary). Think about it, House has only 2 positive things in his life, Wilson and his diagnotic ability. What happens if he loses both?

For full cliché-y goodness, I’ve never been able to resist the idea of House felled by something that leaves him unable to communicate but perfectly aware of what’s going on: still a step ahead of everyone else in diagnosing his own condition, but unable to shout the obvious – or even roll his eyes – as doctors wonder whether it’s lupus. “You’re asking all the wrong questions,” he thinks, as folks who believe he’s on Vicodin keep running futile tests; “I’m clearly having a bad reaction to those new painkillers! If you had the brains to break into my place, you’d promptly find that bottle of pills and figure out what I already know! Come on, people, this is Diagnostics 101: burglarize the residence!”

One thing that disappoints me (though I don’t expect it at this point), I was always hoping that selfish, asshole, scumbag cop David Morse played, the one who harassed House to jail just because he wouldn’t kiss his stupid cop ass, would show up shot in the ER and House would get to laugh in his face as he croaked!
