HOUSE Fans: Monday this week

This is an example of what sometimes bugs me about this show. Someone will say something offhand like this that only House picks up on. If they aren’t sure what’s the matter with “her”, and Wilson is a top doc as well, why doesn’t he make more of it? [Plus they just had a hermaphrodite “girl” on Grey’s Anatomy so it was on my mind already.]

I agree that it was great to see House actually looked relaxed and amused in the MRI with Wilson teasing him.

The girl to Cameron: Haven’t you ever slept with your boss or professor? {She wishes, heh}

See, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. He just stood there and took it. Honestly, who hits someone with a cane?

I really like the show but I hated this episode. House was a way bigger asshole than usual and was competely gratuitously cruel to the model.

There is an awful lot of back story that was explored last season and makes House a bit more sympathetic. And he’s usually kinda a bastard but you understand why and he gets results. This episode tho’, he crossed a line.

Exactly. His constant comments about her body and his ‘reassuring’ comment about cutting her, excuse me, his/her, balls off was just too much. I definitely won’t be tuning back in to this show.

This is precisely why I will be turning back in. Lately, it looks like they’ve been showing the nice vulnerable side of House, and this episode seems to be showing the old House, the misanthrope with no redeeming qualities other than medical wizardry. I’m guessing this was brought about about losing his true love for the second time.

To me, this makes a much more interesting dynamic.

Wow. Thanks for spoiling the episode for those of us that hadn’t been able to watch it yet.

Cheers!

I dunno. I thought he was pretty nice to her (for him) until the very end. I wondered if Cameron had shared the info about the girl’s sexual history, how she used people, and that made House less sympathetic.

Super models are probably accustomed to remarks about their bodies, and flattered.

It aired Monday. Why are you reading this thread?

With spoiler tags broken it seems doubly stupid to follow any thread about a show you haven’t watched yet, then get upset when it is spoiled for you.

It wasn’t the comments to her that made me wince, rather it was the constant comments about her (esp to her dad–before he magically deduced he boned his daughter) that just made him come off as creepy. I get that they were going for gruff, misanthropic genius with House’s character. I just think they (the writers and the actor) failed.

So if you haven’t watched, why are you reading a thread that discusses the show? Is it so inconceivable that someone might mention what happened on it? :dubious:

This isn’t a movie, where it might be weeks or months before people see it. Most people watch it live, and if you tape it, what forced you to be reading a discussion of the show?

She looked like Austin Powers, International Immunologist of Mystery!

This is being debated over at TWOP. There have been indications that House is on a downward spiral: leg pain is worse, he blew off the love of his life a couple of weeks ago, etc. The writers may be trying to show that he is getting worse and it’s affecting his demeanor. But, if you’ve never watched the show you wouldn’t know any of this, and I’ve watched all the shows and still felt it was gratuitous in this particular instance.

I do still like the show (the first season was very good) but will be intereted to see if they’re really going somewhere with this or if they just missed the mark.

I’ll probably follow House threads here on the Boards to see if this is the case. Thanks for your input; it’s been very helpful.

I see all of this leading to some huge breakdown for House. Ever since Stacey left again, he’s been popping even more pills, being a bigger asshole and even crazier (the whole testing the migraine drug on himself), and now asking for morphine. I have a feeling something will go down by the end of the season. It would make sense.

I thought it was a pretty good episode except for two things:

  1. House is supposedly an opiate addict and we’re supposed to believe he thought the saline was morphine? No f’n way. You know when you are getting morphine.

  2. That “supermodel” was uuuuugly.

Oh dear Bog, I hope so. However, I do believe I was guilty of this for a time in my mid-teens back in the 80s. For Adam Ant had so much going on with that look.

By the way, Cameron’s reversal of attitude by dipping into the wild side didn’t bother me. Hell, that almost made her seems appealing and human. No, it’s that she knows life is more than black and white, yet chooses to be as priggish as possible about other people’s choices. So maybe her purpose IS to just irritate us.

She was good in the scene though, where the supermodel talks of her sexual manipulation. She finally came across as somewhat real and the zinger by the girl was just icing on the cake.

Is it just me or did she look like she could have been Geena Davis’s daughter?

It’s just you. She looked like she was the result of a mad scientist’s fish/human breeding program.

Right-o! I like the show, but there was something about it that bugged me, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. But this is it: House needs a foil, someone to play against. None of the other characters are really strong enough to do the job.
