House M.D. 5/19

Amber may not have been in the bus had it not been for House, however, House had walked away from her and said he’d take the bus. She did not have to get in the bus, that was all her choice.

So why did House agree to be hooked up to the brain stimulus thing if he knew it would risk his life? Why would he risk his life to try to save Amber’s? He doesn’t even like Amber.

Is it just that he’s that devoted to diagnosing people?

I think it was more his devotion to Wilson. It was basically shown throughout the episode when House didn’t do what he should have done, but instead did what was safest. Or at least, what was safest when Wilson disagreed.

I teared up. Didn’t cry, but man. That was a depressing hour of television. A good hour of television but a depressing one.

I totally spaced and missed it, when will it be replayed?

Oh, damn! All these years we’ve been hoping for “more of Wilson,” but I didn’t want it to be this way.

What a superb actor Leonard is. This episode should win some sort of an award.

Stupid tears!

I think this might be the first time we’ve seen House commit a selfless act in allowing himself to undergo that brain stimulation in an effort to save Amber. And House cried! He really does love Wilson and cared if Amber died, and blames himself. It was truly sad, and a different direction for the character than we’ve seen before.

He and Wilson will patch it up, but will this give House a reason to change his ways? Will he and Cuddy have a thing? I see a lot of avenues opening up for this character to change a bit.

What’s the deal with 13? If she has Huntingdon’s, how long can she function as a surgeon?

The reception on my tv is far too poor to actually read anything. What did it say?

sniff
Yeah, I really can’t wait for the next season, this Ending was just SO sad. I really love the Cuddy/house relationship, and I really want the guy to catch a few breaks in his life…
But his relationship possibly w/ Wilson being crushed was just really sad…

The test was positive for Huntington’s.

Something to the effect of:

If I’m not here, it’s because I went to pick up House.
Love, A*

EDIT: Whoops, wrong note. :smack:

Damn, that was some good TV.

I’m too lazy to look up the name of the woman who plays Amber, but she’s at least as good an actor as RSL. She sold me on her slowly realized…

crap, I just realized I don’t know how to do spoiler boxes. I thought it’d be one of the main icons above, considering how often they’re used. Ah well, when Amber comes to an important realization, the actress a damn good job.

Well, she tested positive- it tends to occur more in the later years around age 40-50 (unless its juvenile HD which onsets in 20s). But it means she will have to take preventative meds, and there’s the psychological factor of knowing there’s no cure really for the disease…

Anyone else notice the Obama sticker?

Just thought that was funny.

Spoiler boxes are pretty easy to do. Just type a couple of tags, before and after the text you want to hide. Make sure the slash is in the hindmost spoiler tag, and it’s not case-sensitive.

Example: Just hit “reply” to see how I did this:

Cochrane did it.

Sorry if the above post wasn’t clear enough, I couldn’t edit it precisely the way I wanted it. See this post for instructions on doing spoilers.

Yes, and when House said “Sorry, wide stance” to 13, I thought of Larry Craig and laughed.

The rest of it, though, was so sad and so very good. RSL, gosh darn you, you are making me lose it.

Amber was played by Anne Dudek. She’s also been in “Big Love” and “Mad Men.” She’s evil in “Big Love.” In “Mad Men” she was just cheated on by her husband while she was pregnant and left him.

I found it very interesting seeing all the characters’ reactions through the montag at the end. To see Forman, Chase and Cameron all together in the bar made me realize I cared more about these characters than any of the new recruits. I don’t know any of their names and really don’t care.
I liked that Forman told the newbies that even if they didn’t like Amber before they liked her now and needed to see her as an act of support. A totally different response than he would have had a year ago.

I still don’t get the symptom House was supposed to see. Taking the pills was not a symptom and didn’t even play a part until after the crash. House had no way of knowing before they found Amber in the other hospital that her kidneys had shut down, so how did he know the amantadine would be the cause of her current crisis while still on the bus?

Compared to the Bones finale which sucked, this one really rocked.

Are we at the point where we can dispense with spoiler tags? It’s aired everywhere by now.

To show how twisted my little mind is: when 13’s test came up positive for Huntington’s one of the first thoughts going through my head was that she’s now damaged goods an therefore Cameron’s type! Hot girl-on-girl lovin’ next season.

When Amber and House were on the Bus at the end I was hoping Amber would say something harsh but tongue in cheek like “Don’t be a Pussy” when House was complaining about not wanting the pain. It would have been more in character for her and more persuasive for House based on what we’d previously seen of their relationship. The “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” theme had already been used multiple times on the show complete with musical montage, I thought it felt a little lazy and cheesey.

Overall a pretty good episode, but I thought they relied on the dream sequence/hallucination device a little too much. It was really effective in part one but in this episode it became a little repetitive and predictable, not to mention painfully unrealistic. Since this ep was a bit of a departure in tone from the rest of the series I’m happy for forgive it so long as they don’t make a habit of going all quasi-paranormal like that.

Ok I have to ask: Did anyone see when Number 13 was in the bathroom stall the Obama 08’* sticker behind her? How the hell did they get that in there??? I thought that was AWESOME!!!

*The bumper sticker on the wall said Vote for Change 08’ - that’s Obama’s tag line.
