If they do sound different, they don’t sound very different. (Like ‘Kristen’ and ‘Krysten,’ I suppose.)
The names are of endless amusement to me.
In addition to being practically physical mirror images of each other, Daemon and Aemond share the same name, except for the ‘D’ placement. Took me till Season 2 to notice.
(Aspenglow, not the quickest one off the mark. Or maybe I should go by Aespenglow.)
They sound very different to me. I have no trouble telling the two names apart. Sounds like your accent has the mary/merry merger.
Maybe its me being originally a Spanish speaker but I don’t think they are similar at all, while I couldn’t even begin to guess what the difference between Kristen and Krysten would be.

Rhys Ifans knocked it out of the park this episode, not just on the scene with Aegon and Cole but also with Alicent. The eyerolls, the “and WHAT exactly has ser Criston Cole done?”, the perfect laugh when Aegon claims Viserys named him king. So so good, I hope he is not gone for good.

The scenes between Rhaenyra and Daemon and between Aegon and Otto were fabulous. Such great acting there.
I so agree about Rhys Ifans’ acting in particular in this episode. He’s impressed me throughout the series. I’ve read he’s a bit of an ass in the real world, but he’s a highly underrated actor in my view. I watch most anything he’s cast in.
I’m sorry the twins are gone.

The sick girl and father in King’s Landing, are those characters we have seen before or were they just randoms to depict the “everyman” and how they are being fucked over by the King?
The father is Hugh, and we saw him in Episode 1. He’s the head blacksmith who went before Aegon to petition for money to buy iron to build the weaponry needed for the coming war. He said to Aegon he and the blacksmiths were proud to stand against Rhaenyra, to which Aegon responded, “But…?”
Hopefully this will jog your memory.
As for what role he will play in upcoming episodes, I have no idea. But it does seem he will become a more forward character.
Thanks! Yes I do remember that now.
I also just listened to a podcast recapping the entirety of season 1 which has been so useful!
I totally get that.
HBO reran the entire first season before Season 2 launched. I had it on in the background while I worked and it was a huge help in understanding where the story was going when the new season started.

It does seem like a missed opportunity to bring Mysaria back into the plot in an interesting way. But with both twins dead, it’s tough to see how she can get any credit for having, essentially, saved Rhaenyra’s life.
She noticed Arryk heading to the castle and alerted her escort.
Yeah, that’s why Erryk rushed in there to begin with. I thought that was obvious.

She noticed Arryk heading to the castle and alerted her escort.
Of course (and DigitalC: yes, that WAS obvious).
What is not obvious is that the escort would have given her credit, when passing on the information that Arryk had been spotted walking up to the castle.
Sorry for the late thread, episode 3 thread is up.
