and in front of your TV trying to sell you things.
That is the equivalent of SPAM e-mail and popups.
Sorry, lame post, but I liked the analogy.
Oh and don’t forget 30 or so utter loonies who are talking gibberish.
And if it’s my house - about 30 koreans selling either porn or stupid pokemon type crap.
LOL Thanks for the laugh.
What exactly is in the water in the Isle of Man?
And where can I get some of it?
I mean really! Has spam or popups ever made you even slightly interested in what they’re hawking?
An annoying TV advert or radio jingle can get stuck in your head, maybe influencing your purchasing descisions.
But popups? I fight them as soon as they… um… pop up.
And I delete any spam that gets past my filters.
Are we in the majority or minority? Do their tactics make them money?
Orbitz pops up every time you go to ESPN’s website, and one time I clicked on it and bought airline tickets. But now, I live near NYC and fly JetBlue exclusively, so there’s no need for orbitz or any of that shiite. I want to know how many people have purchased one of those home spying cam’s whose pop-up is always greeting me when I get home from work. I think that if you’re really drunk, some of those things might seem cool and inexpensive when they pop-up, and that furthermore, in your inebriation, you might take their popping up as a sign that you should buy them. I once bought my mom 2 dozen roses (not anywhere near mother’s day, mind you) because I was drunk while I checked my email that included a spam to buy flowers.
Who here owns a X-10?
There IS a difference. A BIG difference. I can shoot those dudes down with glee, while laughing crazily- but I can’t get those damn fucking Spamsters in my gunsights.
Where does one get acquainted with a pop-up? And howcome I never get spam, I`d like to try it just once.
To the OP, try a pop-up stopper.
[insert ultra long extra geeky Monty Python bit about Spam here]
FWIW… sometimes the gay porn spam I get makes me fired up enough to… um… go look at free gay porn.
Apparently it’s not working as it should be.
I assume you’re being facetious, but just in case you aren’t, going to this website will get a popup to come up. As far as spam goes, sign up for a hotmail account, use that account to register for a few online services (e-greeting stuff, message boards, travelocity, etc) and eventually the spam will flow as freely as my monthly cycles - and be just as much of a pain in the ass.
Must resist… temptation to make… crass comment…
Seriously, if you use the internet then you have to deal with spam. You can’t avoid it. If you have a hotmail account, you will eventually start getting spammed, seemingly regardless of whether or not you register your address on other sites. I don’t know how they get your address, but they somehow do.
We need spampons.
I thought I was buying an X-10, but I got an A-10 instead. Damn are the license plates on that thing expensive. Buy the way does anybody know where I can find some more DU 30mm rounds?
That’s right. I’m posting from my sister’s laptop at the moment, and her home page is set to ESPN. You know how many times I’ve had to close that stupid pop-up window? WAY too many to count, man…
But yeah… I get a lot of spam, and pop-ups are evil for me on my SLOW computer.

Nuclear fish.
Cool.
True. I have a Hotmail address, and I’ve sent an e-mail with it exactly once. To my girlfriend, who incidently isn’t the CEO of a large E-mail Spam Empire.
A few weeks after I opened the account, the spam started flowing, and it now collects about 3 or 4 porn e-mails a day. I realise this is small potatoes compared to some, but my case is interesting since it proves that even if you never leave your e-mail address on a website, and even if you apparently never send any e-mail with it, your address still gets through to The Evil Spam Bastardos.
So, either Microsoft is providing the spammers with e-mail addresses, or they allow people to send messages to *@hotmail.com, or something. I’m not sure it’s in their TOS, but does anybody know more about this? Do they deliberately provide spammers with addresses?
