Friday night I’ll probably be at O’Hare waiting for The Boy to come in so I can beat him in person for his Ed MacMahon jokes.

I should have spoken up sooner. The 6th or the 20th would have been peachy, but I already have a couple of things going on the 13th. If I can manage it I will try to stop by.
Oct 13th would work for me. I can bring some annoyingly healthy salad.
I’ll be taking the Metra in from Elgin so I’ll meet to know if I should get off at Union Station and cab it from there, or get off before then.
My first ChiDope…a little excited, a little nervous…there are some people there I have to hug-they know who they are. 
But the show must go on, right? I’m of the opinion that occasions of pure, unbridled fun will be few and far between in the months to come, and should therefore be lapped up with reckless abandon.
On that note, I’ll be driving out there from Columbus, OH. If anyone somewhat nearby wants to email me and arrange some sort of carpool, send me an email and let me know.
Is this going to be a Friday night Par-Tay and then a Saturday evening get-together? I’d vote for that, if I’m driving six hours each way. Even if it’s just a few of us going out drinking and dancing, that’d be sweet.
I’ll bring some type of unspecified alcohol and probably some easy to make dessert. I’ll take a shot at cooking some sort of chicken-based entree, since I’ve got 71 pounds of the bird in my freezer, but about all I can guarantee is that it won’t give you salmonella; no word on tase.
BTW, I’m a Dopefest virgin. Be nice to me (and yes, I want you to interpret that in the loosest way possible).

I’m starting to feel like some time together will be good for all of us. As I said earlier, I have no plans that whole weekend, so whatever is decided, I’ll be there.
(I also have some room on the floor if there are still some out of towner’s looking for a place to stay.)

Well, my trip to Germany has been moved up to the 5th to the 12th or 13th so I may be able to show up!

I know most of the “Chi Dopers” live in the city,but how many live in the 'burbs? I’m curious how many of us live closer to some other metro area. I’m in Joliet, so Chicago is pretty close for me,but would it be closer for some if a fest was held in some other centrally located area?
