This is incorrect. Chicken beaks are trimmed by cutting; the trimmer is heated to cauterize the wound site. Proper trimming is limited to the non-vascularized portion of the beak. The cauterization is needed to kill the tissue so that painful, sensitive nodular tissue doesn’t grow at the endof the beak.
PETA doesn’t really expect to convert people to veganism; not many, anyway. The real purpose of their campaign is to expose the farming methods that lead to the worst consequences, and get them banned.
FWIW and to try to address the OP freeze branding has become more prevalent than hot branding. I’m not saying a bit of localized frostbite is a cakewalk but probably more human than being burned.
