MrPict and I are in the market for a new mattress and want one that is really comfy for sleeping but also good for boinking and cuddling. The therapedic seems good for sleeping but not cuddling and boinking. We currently have one of those air beds but don’t like it at all. It’s like two twin beds pushed together, so not soo good for cuddling and just bland for boinking. We had a water bed for 25 plus years and it was pretty good for all three but got tired of the sloshing and the throwing yourself out in the morning (yeah getting old is a bitch).
So, we are now thinking about latex and or one of those cooshy eurotop spring mattress. What is the opinion of the teaming masses?
Presuming you mean “bonking”, I have one of those therapeutic mattresses, but it has a thin layer of soft mattress material top and bottom. So you get the firmness and support, but a nice soft layer you actually lie (or whatever) on. The bed guy tells me it’s all he sells any more.
I have a foam mattress. Not sure if it’s laytex foam. It is ‘firm’ and cozy and well suited to horizontal sports. (I too got tired of heaving myself out of the old waterbed.)
Foam has some advantages. It does not collect dust mites, hence it’s great if either of you are allergic to dust. It’s much lighter than a spring mattress, so it’s easy to turn over when you are spring cleaning. Mine has built in top layers (on both sides) of corrugated (bumpily) foam, which make it cushy and bouncy. I’ve had the mattress for about 7 years and it’s just like new. Also foam is much cheaper that an spring mattress.
If you’re getting therapeudic, you can always get some kinda foam, to give you a nice boinking surface. I had a sheet of that egg carton foam on my bed for the longest time.
Thanks for the replys. Can’t do the egg carton stuff, MrPict doesn’t like mattress toppers cause “they move around too much”??? He’s not really keen on pillow-top mattresses either so we don’t have too many choices. He thinks the euro-top will be better but I’m not too sure of that. Oh, well I’m half-way tempted to drag the water bed out of the guest room and go back to that. We’ll see. MrPict will try the latex out in the show room this weekend, hmmmm that sounds way more interesting than I thought it would.

Yep, after 18 years on a latex mattress my wife and I have been satisfied customers. Another good thing is that, unlike non-latex foam products, you don’t perspire on a latex mattress during physical activities.
