Sorry about the zombie thread revival, but I just can’t stop thinking about how much we’re fucking doomed. If the supremes outlaw, mifepristone, the next conservative target is birth control. Not shitting you. Anti-LGBTQ laws are going to become more and more extreme. Don’t get me started on climate change.

I see the right is doomed. I think they’re seeing failures, they’re seeing that younger people even in red states are not putting up with their shit. They know their demographics are going to die off. So they’re like cornered rats lashing out. They’re doing everything they can to gerrymander, stack the courts, restrict voting rights, anything to push back the coming wave. And they’re going further and further into the extreme, trying to get as much of their agenda pushed through while they can. This extremism already cost them in the midterms and it’ll continue to cost them as they spiral.
Which is why they are doing their best to destroy democracy.
You’re pretty optimistic. I think we’re all doomed. People will continue to complain about how they don’t like Democrat [insert name here] or “they’re all alike” and not vote. Meanwhile, the right will successfully continue to destroy basic human and civil rights.

A good portion of the left does a fine job placing an abundance of blame on Democrats for failing to get elected or not being more obstructionist as the minority or not being sufficiently authoritarian when they had the chance or whatever

Okay, I said I didn’t want to get started on climate change. Buuutttt, has anyone seen the models predicting the level of warming from way back in the 80’s. We’re right fucking on track. When Obama became president, I had some hope that we could make the changes we needed to slow it down. I don’t have hope anymore.
I feel just as I did before. The DNC fell in with Hillary’s plan for a coronation and Trump was the result. The DNC recognized that after the election and eliminated the stupid rules that allowed it and kicked out the Clintonistas who tried to democratize the Democratic party. As it is the leadership in the party failed to support the President in 2020 and can’t get themselves to give him a good word in 2024 leaving the door open for chaos. We can’t expect to survive simply from the Republicans screwing up.
Dianne Feinstein is a perfect example of the problem. She refuses to step down from the Senate even though she’s clearly too old to function. At a time where the Republicans have already highjacked the judiciary system and are attempting to block any Democratic nominees to federal judiciary positions forever she cannot serve on the judiciary committee and won’t even step down from that and is asking for a temporary replacement that the Republicans will likely block. The same people calling Joe Biden too old for no discernable reason don’t seem to mind Feinstein staying in office despite her being totally ineffective. The cult of personality is as much of a cancer on the Democratic party as it is to the Republicans. The media reports that the party is putting pressure on her to resign but I don’t see any sign of it.

I’m reporting the news that says that she isn’t running for re-election. Whether she steps down before that is entirely her decision.
