Was supposed to have a guest over for dinner tonight, but she just canceled (bad night’s sleep), so the cleaning planned for today doesn’t have to be done today. Or tomorrow, for that matter.
Seems to me I was going to post a response to the OP way back last December, but never got a round tuit.
To be sure: That NYT article is quite right that it’s NOT about laziness. I’ve often put in great time and effort, literally, just to avoid doing some much quicker and simpler task that I didn’t want to do.
(I’d take the time right now to write up some examples, but even that’s more trouble than I want to take. So I’ll go out now and rake up the dead leaves in the garden instead.)
This is totally the truth. The list of tasks to be avoided gets sooo long.
