How are you?

I used to work with a guy that used to respond to the OP by saying “Marginal”.

I could understand that on a so-so day, but he did it EVERY day I knew him for the however many months I worked with him!

well? well what?

Not too bad. You?

I almost always say, “Peachy” in a very flat tone. It is not in my nature to be bubbly and perky so the word itself seems rather odd for me to use and most people laugh.

but evilbeth, are you ever callipygian?

My answer to this question can vary. If someone asks me how I am doing when I come in to work, I don’t answer verbally. I just give them this special look I have that conveys how absolutely thrilled I am to be at work for the next 14 hours. Sometimes, if I am feeling particularly thrilled, I’ll utter a quiet grunt as well.

In social settings, I offer the standard, “I’m doin’ OK.”
