How bad does The One look?

Here’s the trailer. (Note: That’s the high res version, other incarnations can be found here.)

Now the movie looks neat, in a Matrix-ish kind of way, but it looks almost painfully dumb. Now keep in mind that this is coming from somebody who actually enjoyed not just Demolition Man, but Judge Dredd to boot.

But it is Jet Li. But it does look like Highlander, which reinforces my “it looks neat but is probably going to make my brain bleed” hypothesis…

So, what’s your opinion?

I think that for chop-sockey the movie looks solid. I just hope that it doesn’t suck as much as the Van Damme twin movie did. My impression from looking at the trailer is that the two “Ones” won’t be confronting each other that much in the beginning, meaning fewer cheesey Jet Li v. Jet Li blue-screened-with-a-stunt-double fight scenes. In the end I think it will be Jet Li’s natural abilities blowing peoples minds (with the help of a little bit of hollywood magic), not the Matrix-like effects.

Yes, it looks unbelieveably stupid, and yes, I can’t wait to see it. Looks like a ton o’ fun.
