Was the name Napoleon Bonaparte da Christ taken? I could understand a psychotic person with delusions of grandeur referring to themselves as Charlamagne and god.
Not even sure where I’m going with this. Something about this just rubs me wrong.

Because “The Great” was already taken?
Moving this to CS since it is about a radio and TV personality.
Seven? Orange? What’s the scale?
After translation, that comes to Charles the Great the God
Not just egotistical, but somewhat redundant.
I suggest “the trump scale”. How much of an ego does this take to call yourself a “god”?
.75 on the trump scale.
Nobody has yet mentioned me using the handle Wesley Clark. So far so good.
James is also remembered as the sponsor of the “King James Bible”
I have chosen God-king as my official title for two companies I started and had it on my business cards.
I’m going to vote no ego issues at all.
New to the world of media personalities, I take it?
He’s a 5 percenter and those dudes have been calling themselves and other black men “Gods” for at least 30-40 years. I don’t know the specifics but it’s part of his religious beliefs.
Don’t know where he got the Charlemagne part from but I have always enjoyed the moniker Charlemagne tha God. It speaks to a certain level of boldness and self confidence that black men are frequently discouraged from displaying to the wide world. It screams “this is how I feel about myself so fuck you and all of your cultural preferences and expectations! If you wish to speak to me or about me then you will have to use the name that I have chosen regardless of how you feel about it.”
BB player and coach God Shammgod
Jay-Z is J-Hova and Kanye West is Yeezus. Calling yourself Charlemange is downright humble.
This is correct. It’s a type of positive mental affirmation. Just because CTG is a god, doesn’t mean that other (black) men can’t also be a god.
5 percenter is/was racist and sexist, but it’s a product of its time. It’s not always meant to be taken literally. cf. People who use the appelations Lord, King, Queen, Prince, Princess, in a pen name.
Kinda balanced out by a guy who would deliberately call himself Ludacris.
Maybe a need to level up from black women calling themselves and each other “queens”?
This is the guy who won a Pulitzer?:dubious:
I’m not sure what you mean by this…care to explain in a bit more detail?
Kendrick Lamar was the guy who won the Pulitzer for his album DAMN.
If you’re a fan of hip-hop then I would recommend you check it out.
Is it an affirmation or a tenet of the faith? I was always under the impression that it was a belief although I can’t say how literally it is supposed to be taken.
