I’m *BrotherCadfael, a late-forties IT manager with degrees in statistics and political science. My background includes a stint as volunteer EMT on both rescue and ski patrol, a few years in a Defense Department agency which required a high security clearance (that’s about as specific as I’ll get!). I have strong interests in classical music (I have sung baritone in a variety of choirs), history, politics, etc. I am moderately conservative.
I have a taste for really bad jokes (I inherited my father’s sense of humor), and a habit of speaking in quotations that drives my kids nuts. My major sources of quotes are Shakespeare, Heinlein, Dorothy L. Sayers, The Simpsons, and Dilbert.
I tend to drop into threads and contribute some piece of interesting information that is only tangentally related to the topic. Sometimes I just stop in to tell a joke loosely inspired by the OP or another poster.
I also seem to be coding-impaired.

I live in Madison Wis. Presently unemployed at the moment. I lurked here for a while but finally decided to pony up for the fee. While I am single, I have a GF but ours is a rather strange realtionship. I live in Wis, she lives in California. We met on another board which lead to Messenger chats, followed by using microphones, and then webcams. So we know what each other looks like, sounds like, and we’ve never been closer than a half a continent apart but we love each other dearly. Our plans are that she move to Wis once she has the money to do so. I maybe posting at a future time further info in asking for you dopers help concerning this situation. But I haven’t really decided. you all seem like a really good bunch so I may wind up doing so anyway.
oh yes, I have a red “Panic” key on my keyboard. Someday i amy wind up replacing my “Delete” key with one labeled “Smite”. One other note is that I seem to have a bit of dyslexia and my friends have charitably called my spelling at times …“Creative”.
