How can a thread have more replies than views?

Especially if it has zero views and multiple replies. I assume there’s some latency involved on the view tally, but why?

Thanks.

I’m certainly not the expert here, but I think the board server prioritizes functions when it gets overloaded and perhaps it chose to do so in regard to your observation.

tubadiva would know more.

I was under the impression a thread gets one view per visitor per day.

Is it a very old thread? Early versions of the message board software didn’t track views at all, and so when we upgraded to a version that did, all those threads had zeroes in the “views” column.

Maybe the responders had their eyes closed.

No, in fact I see it all the time. Today I had an OP with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 replies, and zero views.

Yes, the system does not always update views in real time. This is especially true when the board is getting a lot of action; then the system will focus on rendering pages to the exclusion of most everything else.

When things aren’t so hectic the system catches up with itself. Usually it doesn’t take a very long time but especially in times of stress on the system it might be a little while before the count matches what you expect to see.

If this thread is rockin’, don’t bother knockin’!

I wish I was getting a lot of action.

Please resume normal transmissions.

Hey Board, how you doin’?

SDMB, meet BDSM.
ETA: Thanks TubaDiva.

What, I have to read them as well now?

I see this all the time too.

Is that some spam in your pocket or are you just happy to see us?

I am an unregistered post perv.
