It’s not a big deal, but it looks like the “view count” stat for threads may not be accurate. I just posted as the 3rd post in a spammer’s thread (linking to it as an example would be unproductive, it will probably be disappeared soon). Then in my CP, the thread showed “2 replies” but “0 views.”
Since you have to view it before replying, I think that view number should be at least 2, assuming that the OP doesn’t count.
Mods – any thoughts?
I just noticed some other threads showing as zero views in my CP (and I refreshed the display), but a higher view number in the forum display page. Switching back and forth from page displays and refreshing each time, the CP shows zero, but the forum, non-zero. Perhaps the value is not updated frequently, but why just for the CP display?
Chrome browser, if it matters.
It takes awhile for the view count to catch up. It only updates about once every 20-30 minutes.
That may not be the exact time, but I think it’s close.
It seems the counter routine for the CP is not the same one as for the forum display. Can’t see why, other than a programming misstep.
This is a WAG on my part, but the system ranks tasks in order of importance and updating post and view counts is not as high a priority as other things, so you shouldn’t expect to see instant real time updates.
The system does catch up with itself eventually (within a few minutes, most likely) but not instantly.
Right now, they seem to be in sync.
