I know that when you post a new thread, it will list “1” as the number of views (ie, yourself).
when is that updated?
For example - there was a thread posted in the Pit today, I clicked on it shortly after it was opened, was going to respond to it, actually clicked on it more than once. Post views at this point (several hours later) ? 1.
I’ve noticed that, too. It says “one” for an awful long time, even if I’ve clicked on it a few times. Are they counting number of people viewing or number of views period? Or does it just take a while for it to be recorded?
All joking aside, the system does not automatically upgrade the view total as views accumulate, they seem to happen as the system is doing other things. So it’s possible for a page to have several views that are not yet reflected in the total shown.
Everything catches up sooner or later . . . mostly later.
We’ve also had some problems with the system over the last few days and it’s possible that the system is not operating as efficiently as we’d like. Under these circumstances it might take even longer for totals to reflect action.
By default vBulletin updates those numbers once per hour. Apparently it’s pretty stressful for the server so instant updating is disabled on most boards I’ve seen.
