How can anyone vote for Trump in 2020? No. But Seriously

To your first, that would never happen so long as Republicans have power in the government.

To the second, community colleges and state colleges would be free. If you want to go to a private college, you’d have the option to pay for that.

We already manage to provide 13 years of education, why would 2-4 more years be unworkable?

I’d also pressure businesses to lower their degree requirements and inflation. I don’t think it would ever fly, and I admit it would be hard to implement, but I do like the idea of having a tax on employers based on their hiring requirements. If they demand an educated workforce, they should be willing to pay for it.

If Trump wins again - and it is possible - this time it will be the ongoing riots/protests/general civil unrest that does it. Right now it’s raging in Wisconsin, a critical swing state. At this point I’ve even wondered if some of the more violent looting hasn’t been deliberately instigated by right-wing agents provocateur , though most of the participants might indeed be - not “leftists” - but just general rabble-rousers and hell-raisers seizing an opportunity where they think they can get away with it. Regardless: Trump has fucked up the economy. He’s fucked up COVID. And up until about a month ago I was pretty sure that he’d be defeated. Now I am starting to seriously worry.

We all know how hard he leans into the “law and order” message and how he’s played up his support of police - who are, for lack of a better word, collectively, a conservative totem at this point, regardless of the motivations of individual cops or police departments.

White people in this country are SCARED SHITLESS of riots. Whether the fear is truly warranted is another matter. But it is a big fear, and fear is a really powerful emotion - perhaps the most powerful one.

Trump very successfully played upon fear of Mexican and Muslim migrants in 2016, helping him clinch the election. IMO the Mexican fears were total bullshit and little more than dog-whistles to racists. But the Muslim fears were a bit more, if not exactly “justifiable”, at least understandable, since - and I remember it vividly - the two years leading up to Trump’s election saw a MASSIVE wave of Islamic terror attacks in Europe. Who could forget those disgusting pictures from the Bataclan of corpses littering the floor and hideous smears of blood all over the place? Or the aftermath of numerous truck attacks? The Pulse nightclub shooter may not have had explicit ties to organized terror, but it didn’t take much for people to draw a line from Europe to America in this situation.

I don’t believe that the Democrats suceeded in sending a message to America that was reassuring and made people feel that they’d be safe from these types of attacks, and this failure to step up, in MY OPINION, was one of the things that helped Trump.

The same is true of the rioting now. I am still liking Biden’s chances compared to Hillary’s but that’s not saying much.

The electorate is composed of human beings, and we’re malleable, highly suggestible to propaganda, easily manipulated by skilled manipulators, and never, ever immune to good salesmanship. And Trump is not a politician, but he is a salesman.

Actually…no, they don’t.

That’s great. I admire your progressive position on this.

But you’ve not answered my question: In what way is Harris too progressive?

Woman, Man, Person, Camera, TV.

Trump thought that remembering this was a hard question, and believed that most people would be unable to do it.

How do we know this? Because he said so.

If you’re bragging about acing a cognitive test, then you’ve failed the cognitive test. So if you’re concerned about senility, Trump is not the candidate for you.

All CUNY ( City University of New York) colleges are free to most resident students. Technically, they are on a sliding scale tuition but unless your family has a 6 figure income, it’s free. The program has been quite successful and could be used as a model for other cities and states.

Riots like the recent incident where BLM protesters harassed a woman for not raisng her fist in support?

Why doesnt Biden/Harris and the democrats in general address this crap?

Any such program relies on municipal, state and federal taxes. I’m generally skeptical of Republicans who claim they are for “big government” programs because when push comes to shove, they want government out of their wallets. So yeah, they’re all hat and no horse.

What should they say, “Yeah, we know some protesters are assholes”?

It happened yesterday, by the looks of things, last night. Maybe take a deep breath from outrage seeking and give them a chance to respond. They’re kind of in the middle of something.

But since you can’t wait, will this do?:

Because the news world moves fast and the democrats need to also.

If I were Biden I would do a photo op where he meets the woman who was attacked or do… something.

Why haven’t you raised the same concerns of lack of urgency and political awareness with respect to Trump and his deafening lack of commentary on the shooting of Jacob Blake? That was well over 48 hours ago. Trump has been on TV every night since that incident. He’s had every opportunity to do… something.

Are you going to answer my question about why you believe Harris is not suitably moderate?

The Republicans did respond to that. A woman addressed the nation and said that such police actions are justified because her brown son is more likely to commit violent offenses than her white sons.

Come on - the women underwent an unpleasant experience, but that’s all she underwent. It doesn’t rate a photo op.

This is a trivialization of the trauma that Urbanredneck has suffered as a result of his continuous search for outrage about BLM. And I won’t have it.

Biden must apologize directly to Urbanredneck for the lack of seriousnes with which he has treated him for the past 12 hours or so. Following which Biden and Harris must step down from their nomination. Retroactively.

Oh I don’t know. He has it coming…

(That cheered me up no end yesterday.)

You can be as sarcastic as you want but people see these things and form opinions and then they vote. They see democrat controlled areas being out of control so they might just vote republican.

But go on, keep attacking me while ignoring how Biden/Harris are letting this election slip away.

Wishful thinking? But, sure, they might. People are stupid.

I think you mean “They’re repeatedly told by right-wing media that Democrat-controlled areas are out of control”. Because it’s all about the narratives.

People form wrong opinions all the time. I’ve provided you with arguments that show Harris is not as progressive as you stated and asked you to explain what lead you to conclude and say otherwise. I’ve additional provided you with a cite of Biden, in his own words, condemning violent protests and saying that those doing so should be prosecuted.

You’ve demurred from responding. Now, I can’t keep you from reaching wrong opinions and then voting accordingly. But you cannot continue to claim that having reached wrong conclusions, therefore the fault lies with Biden/Harris. The fault lies with you and your unwillingness to seek out better informed decisions.
