I’m wondering if any SDopers recall hearing a news story around the time of the General Election (US). Supposedly, it was determined that the origin of mailed Anthrax came from within. Specifically, I am trying to recall which specific cases they linked to an inside job. You’d think this would have been BIGGER news, and what’s going to happen next now that this has been determined? - Jinx
Go to Google™. Select the News link above the search argument window. Enter “anthrax” on the new search window and click on the “Search News” button, bringing up these search results.
Results are listed (roughly) most recent to older, so going back four pages (past the stories of the Ugandan hippos infected with anthrax, the guy who assaulted a Federal officer while they searched his house, last year, and some random stuff from overseas), we eventually come to several stories about the company that recently was awarded the vaccine contract–just about the time of the election.
My guess would be that either in the stories about the doctor suspected of mailing anthrax or in the stories about the new vaccine contract, there was a mention of the domestic source of the anthrax attack. To be clearer (by filtering your search returns), you might change the search argument to “anthrax domestic” or some other combination of words you might have seen in the story.
It isn’t a new news story, but it was one that the right-wing media weren’t keen to focus on when it arose, in 2002: it was a strain originating from Texas, and was developed by the US military. No ‘international terrorism’ link could be found.
