My google is failing me right now.
I have a laptop that has a fingerprint scanner, and I have used that to log onto my laptop. However I cannot remember the actual password associated with the fingerprint scan. So while I am in windows, is there any way for me to find my password w/o changing it? I don’t want to change my password, and I have no problems logging into my PC, but I want to find what the password is in case the fingerprint scanner stops working.
I was originally on windows 7 until a week ago, when it upgraded to windows 10.
Not sure if this changed from Win 7 to 10… look in the address bar while in Chrome and there should be a “key” symbol, that is your password manager.
I’m not seeing that in chrome, would something like that even have my password to log in to windows?
I haven’t set any fingerprint security on my Win10 machines, but I have set (and changed) PINs - the password that it prompts you for, when you make changes to this, is your Microsoft account password - i.e. the password for your hotmail or Live.com account.
(That is, assuming you set Windows up that way when you first upgraded - if you skipped the Microsoft account bit, and set up Windows 10 without it, then the password is whatever you set locally).
To get to the place where you configure all this, click Start and begin typing Sign In Options - the start menu should serve up a shortcut to the system settings app where fingerprints, PINs and ‘Hello’ are all configured.
