sorry - I’m such an idiot. I’ve seen it before but I don’t know how to get there - it’s a little pie chart that shows the available space on the hard drive. Where the hell is it? And while I’m at it, how do I disable this goddamned fingerprint security thing on my laptop?
go to “My Computer,” right-click on the icon for the hard drive, and select “Properties.”
can’t help you with the fingerprint thing.
That’s not a windows function, it is controlled by software loaded by the manufacturer, or it is controlled in BIOS.
Make and Model?
It’s an HP 6735b laptop. The security finger swipe thing is a real pain, but I can’t seem to find out how to disable the thing. Anyone have any clue?
It appears you can manage the fingerprint scanner from HP ProtectTools Security Manager .[ol]
[li]Click Start , type protect in the search field, then select the HP ProtectTools Security Manager from the search list.[/li][li]In the HP ProtectTools Security Manager , go to the Fingerprints screen.[/li][li]Click the enrolled finger that you want to delete.[/li][li]When the delete confirmation appears, click Yes to delete.[/li][/ol]http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=130&prodSeriesId=3687779&prodTypeId=321957&objectID=c01471790
I think clearing all the fingerprints from the manager should stop it from bugging you.
no - there are not fingerprints registered with the system. It just gets invoked every time you just* happen *to touch that swipe pad. I want to turn the thing off entirely.
